Actually Hitler got in trouble for avoiding the Austrian Military who later arrested him and when given a physical he failed the requirements. Hitler later petitioned the then King of Bavaria to join the Bavarian Army and did so in 1914. He had admired the German military so much and he had also become an anti semitist by now any liked the political atmosphere in Germany, that he wanted to fight in WWI for Germany and did so in the Bavarian regiment as a runner, delivering posts and messages. He served in France and Belguim for Regiment List or the 16th Regiment Reserve. He also drew cartoons and instructional drawings for the military newspaper. He was twice decorated for bravery and received the Iron Cross second class and first class. He was never promoted to Officer because he supposedly lacked leadership skills. Some say it was because he was not a German citizen. He was temporarily blinded by mustard gas in 1918 and while in a field hospital was diagnosed with 'inversion disorder" or what is now known as hysteria. This is thought to be the time Hitler formed his ideas of " Saving Germany from the Jews" Hitler became a German citizen in 1932 and the time between WWI and his citizenship he worked infiltrating into the Socialist Party in Germany and helped push that movement into the Nazi Party. During this time he also wrote Mein Kampf while in prison for an attempt to over through the Bavarian Government, and began speaking openly about Jews and the Anti Semitist agenda. He was appointed Chancellor in 1933 and quickly moved to take over the government. Within a year he had secured political supremecy over Germany. In less than five years he would begin the Holocaust. Hitler turned 56 years old on April 20, 1945 and ten days later committed suicide with his new wife by biting on a cyanide capsule and shooting himself at the same time.
i hope this helps some

Hahaha you mong, of course thats gunna happen with the attitude you've got. The way your coming across is that you look down on us as our master or overlord or something because we apparently "owe" you so much. Try not coming over here and not thinking your superior to us and you might get on with people a bit better. Generally bringing up the whole WW2 thing just annoys people even more, espeically as we as a country (despite it being a long time ago) sacrificed and lost alot, just for us to be supposedly "saved" by you lot. Oh yeah and D-day, there were 2 American beaches, 2 British ones and 1 Canadian one so technically 3 Commonwealth against 2 American, plus most of the equipment was ours and where did you launch from? Cus it definitley wasn't America. Also Geordie top marks mate :-D

You mean World War I.
Hitler volunteered in 1914 at age 25 by enlisting in a Bavarian Regiment. Hitler was a dispatch runner, taking messages back and forth from the command staff in the rear to the fighting units near the battlefield.
On October 7, 1916, Corporal Hitler was wounded in the leg by a shell fragment during the Battle of the Somme. He was hospitalized in Germany. Hitler was sent back into action in March of 1917.
In August 1918, he received the Iron Cross first class, a rarity for foot soldiers. Interestingly, the lieutenant who recommended him for the medal was a Jew, a fact Hitler would later obscure. Despite his good record and a total of five medals, he remained a corporal. Due to his sloppy personal appearance and odd personality, his superiors felt he lacked leadership qualities and thought he would not command enough respect as a sergeant.
In October 1918, he was temporarily blinded by a British chlorine gas attack near Ypres and was sent home for the rest of the war, which ended in November.
Hitler died in 1945, days short of his 56th birthday.

WWII had been going on for several months when Hitler decided to fulfill his patriotic duty and defend Germany against her barbaric invaders.
He joined at a recruiting fair in Munich in the summer of 1942.
The story of him failing the physical test is not completely correct. He earned a passing score, but failed one of the modules - not enough jumping jacks in a minute (in those days you were allowed to fail 1 module, or get a marginal score on two).
He was 78 when he died.

Hitler was the Chancellor of Germany during WWII, he fought in WWI as a common soldier, receiving the Iron Cross. Hitler's company suffered over 100% ccasualties during his time in the war, and he remained unscathed. I think this is why he felt invincible, along with the several failed attempts on his life.
Hitler married his long time girlfriend, and the two of them committed suicide the night of their wedding.

Hitler, born, Adolf Schickelgruber. 20th April 1889 - died by suicide 30th April 1945.
Hitler a Austrian managed to dodge military conscription in Austria.
He fled to live in Bavaria, where he was tracked down by the Austrian authorities and managed to convince them that he was unfit for service in the Austrian Army.
In Bavaria he petitioned the Bavarian King, to allow him to join the Bavarian Army, which was granted.
He joined the List Regiment in Munich and served in Belgium and France in WW1, where he won the Iron Cross II Class, and Iron Cross I st Class, the citation for the I st class, was recommended by his Lieutenant who was Jewish.
In World War II he was the Political Nazi Dictator of Germany and not a member of the military.
The Prussian Iron Cross, First and Second were freely awarded to members of the Prussian Military and associated German States, irrespective of Officer, NCO, or men, a Second Class had to have been won first before a First Class could be awarded.
His (Hitler) other awards were:
a Bavarian Military Service Cross with swords III Class in Bronze,
and a Bavarian 9 year service medal (military service in War was counted as double peacetime service.)
and a Regimental Certificate for the List Regiment, and a
Black Prussian Wound Badge.
After WW1 in 1934 he could have worn the Hindenburg Cross for Front-line fighter, but, choose not to apply for it.

biggie has it right, also, there may have been some psychriatric problems brought out in the german military, that disqualified him for leadership as his own family had severe mental problems as well as abuse in his upbringing, there is also proof of his sick mind towards incest as well as the proof of his involvement with homosexuality, which joseph stalin witnessed films of him and eventually ordered locked away
