My cat loved McDonald's lowfat frozen yogurt -- about a teaspoonful on hot summer days. Cats tend to be lactose-intolerant, and a, comparatively-speaking, big helping of ice cream may not be the best thing in the world for him. Also, the high fat content of ice cream is not the best thing for a cat on a really regular basis. But if you or a friend has an adult cat or even a larger kitten who likes a teaspoon or so of ice cream every now and again, there is absolutely nothing wrong with giving him some as a treat.

My buddy T'nikko will do most anything to get a taste of ice cream, cheese and chicken. I once asked him to take out the trash for some vanilla ice cream...I think he hurt himself trying to think that one out...seriously though. I give him a little taste as in less than a spoonfull, or a few crumbles of cheese, and he's in heaven. They are a rare treat.

As a very rare treat, a tiny amount of ice cream is ok. Cats are not designed to drink cow's milk... (calves are designed to drink cow's milk.)
HOWEVER...
NEVER give a cat anything that has chocolate, coffee, or tea in it, as chocolate and caffeine are poisonous to cats. (That includes Chai tea.)

Both of my cats love ice cream or anything that combines milk and sweetness, since their mama's milk was kind of sweet. I think it reminds them of their kitten days. ;-)

Cats are actually lact tose intolerant. You really shouln't give him/her ice cream b/c of the milk in it.

I have one that loves to sniff it. However, milk should never be given to cats, especially icecream. Their digestive systems can't handle it.
