sweetie_33707: I have not seen this commercial of which you speak. However, this is the exact kind of thing I had in mind when asking the question.

fedup: Indeed. Doing them anonymously is even better. The whole point is wanting to help others, not receive recognition.

I do this all the time, sometimes it is a total stranger or a street person...I help street people often. Most of my ran don acts of kindness are towards my friends and family...I have in the past sent Christmas packages to a needy family and have it delivered anonymously....It is my believe that anonymous random acts of kindness are the best.

Yes. It has not been very often, but I have done it before. I'm not sure where you're from, but there is a commercial on tv for some kind of financial company that shows one person doing something nice or helpful for someone else, someone witnesses it, and then they do something nice for someone. And it becomes a domino effect. And it basically leads back to the original first person. I love that commercial. The world needs more of that.

Not so much from receiving, but from observing.

My mother was, and is, the sort of person who goes out of her way to meet the needs of others (including total strangers) and gets flustered when a big deal is made of it -- to the point that now in her late 70s she has darn near perfected the art of doing so unheralded and anonymously.

It is an integral part of who she is, and since I've been watching this my entire life, it's something I picked up as well. I'm not nearly as attuned to opportunities as she is, though; I'm afraid I get wrapped up in my own little world a bit too much, but she is ever my example.

Yep it's a result from the golden rule. Do unto others as you would have others do to you. Also, what goes around, comes around. If you sow good, you will reap it!

Oh my goodness yes! I love to take something that someone has done for me and "pay it forward". You know? That brings me great joy!
