What about cell phones. Do these only show if they are negative. I pay all my bills on time.

They do not show because they are not considered loans.

The only time most utilities, cell phones, land phones, gym memberships, cable or satellite accounts show is if you do not pay them and they go to collections.

Bills such as cable tv, cell phones, and utilities do not report to the 3 major credit bureaus. Technically you are applying for a small credit line with them, but they choose not to report to the credit bureaus.

When starting new service with one, however, you may see what is called a hard inquiry (just like when you apply for a credit card). That can ding your credit score slightly in the short term, but only by a few points unless you have lots of hard inquiries (checking your score is a soft inquiry and will not affect it in any way). If you pay them regularly they will never show up.

Once you become delinquent though, those bills can show up if reported by the creditor or after being sent to a collection agency.

The best way to keep a credit score high is to pay all your bills on time and keep a good mix of credit types (revolving, installment, etc.).

They don't show because you don't carry a running balance, like you would on a loan or credit card. Typically, the only time these companies report you to the credit bureau is for collection (past due balance, late pays). There are a few utility/energy companies that have started regular monthly reporting, but they're few and far between.

If you have good scores, that's great. But it is important to keep some type of trade line (account) on there. Consider a secured credit card (like a pre-paid, but it will be on your credit report). Use it periodically and just make sure you've got the money to pay if off every month. Maintaining good payment history is vital for good credit scores.

Anyways, good work so far and I hope this helps! I included a link for you.

They show up if you don't pay...but if you do pay, then that's not reported to the credit bureaus.
