Hi Kevin,

I keep hearing that UOB out of Singapore will do it the most reasonably. I've put their link below. Interested to know if true, I do think they'll lend just not sure how good the deal is.

Also here's a link to a guy on Thai Visa who is an expat that just got a mortgage with them: Quicksilva.

Laws for Americans are different in Thailand. We can own land outright as well as 9 buildings and the land they are on outright.

This comes from the provisions of the treaty of amity between Thailand and the US. This treaty has remained in full force throughout all the various coups of Thailand and this latest one as well. There was a small mention of this being rescinded at the start of this coup but to do so would mean the loss of the US properties and holdings of all the rich Thais in the US or in US corporations...

Thai holdings and interests in the US are vast. Needless to say that got nipped in the bud...

There are 2 banks, I believe are being very aggressive about market share. HSBC or Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corp., which has world wide branches and is expanding in Thailand. The other is Bank of Ayudhya which was taken over or merged with GE Money and is supposed to be pretty aggressive. I have posted the respective websites below. I have acquaintances at both banks in Bangkok but, not in the departments you need to contact.

I've heard its a headache to work with Thai banks. Good luck.
