I was baptised when i was younger, but my family never went to church. My boyfriend is a lutheran, and he went to a private lutheran school. he has made many valid points about the bible, and they do contridict themselves wuite a bit through out the book. WHy?

why...? because you're not a christian...
how could you say you are a christian but never go to the church..? Baptize could not save your soul only believe in Jesus as savior and Lord.
Please send me email, i wanna know what your boy friend said. because i believe there is no contradiction in bible...

As the times changed, the belief system changed. For example in the older books of the bible, notably Job, Satan is portrayed as an angel sent to enlighten people by trial and tribulation. By the New Testament, he had evolved into a fallen angel that was a rebel against god and sought to tempt us to do evil. Similar points can be made about the afterlife.

It contradicts itself so much because it was written by different people at different times in history and each wrote what they believed to be correct at the time of writing.
It gets even more confusing because nobody can tell you who it was who actually wrote it

Yup - it does contradict as i found the other day. God tells us not to be jealous of others - and yet in the ten commandments it states that God is jealous. I don't know wht it conradicts itself. I guess maybe some of the Bible isn't entirally correct.

Because it was written over a very long time by a nomadic tribe who engaged in pseudoscience.
There are bound to be a lot of errors.
