Besides high blood pressure and sinus problems it could also be due to weak blood vessels which can be strengthened by taking citrus bioflavonoids every day.

Cauterisation involves heat sealing leaking blood vessels by heat fusion. This can be done with a local anaesthetic and should only be a last resort if everything else fails.

Nosebleeds can be easily fixed - permanently - by a doctor, but there are no home remedies. A doctor uses an instrument that permanently seals the arteries that are bleeding, using a laser or electricity. This procedure takes less than a minute and it only causes a little bit of stinging.

My daughter had frequent, severe nosebleeds. She actually got sick from losing too much blood. Eventually, she had to have the veins inside her nose cauterized. It took four separate cauterization's, and she said it hurt a lot, both during and after. Not agonizing, but it hurt. But she's now nosebleed free and happier and healthier for it. Best of luck to your boyfriend! :)
