My little brother is autistic and can't communicate what is wrong with him. He frequently has fits in which he is obviously in pain and says his head hurts, but in reality it could be anything. He is having problems going to the bathroom. His urination stops and starts and he has diarrhea. My parents don't know what to do. It's been going on for over a year. They've had tons of tests but everything comes out normal. Does anyone know of a specialist or someone who could help?

Has your brother had an MRI? It could detect physical problems that a CAT Scan or other tests cannot. Is his head pain associated with other activities, such as coughing or laughing? Does the pain radiate from the back of the head? Does it the pain ease when he lays down? I had these symptoms and was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation, which is only detectable by MRI. I had surgery and was completely cured. See http://asap.org/resources/symptoms.html for more information. I hope this helps because it took more than a year before I was correctly diagnosed by a neurologist.

The stopping and starting when urinating sounds like an enlarged prostate. My Husband (Much, Much Much older takes SAW PALMETTO for this problem and it works really well. If he misses any days it comes back, but we have had great success with it. Get it in a vitamin department.

You do not mention his age, but it sounds as if his diet might need correcting.

If you are not accustomed to seeing a CHIROPRACTOR regularly, I would definitely take him for a work up and see if he can't help him. It is a painless, medicine free way to align your body and feel well as much as possible. I certainly would if I had an autistic child.

When our bodies get out of alignment, we feel poorly and our systems just do not work right. This happens when nerves get pinched throughout our bodies. In the neck c-1 to c3 the nerves can get pinched and cause horrible headaches.

When my Son was 13, he went through a real personality change . After trying many things, I took him for an adjustment , after one adjustment he changed immediately.
Color came back into his face, he said "He tingled all over. I think he slowly became so misaligned that even he did not know why he felt bad. From then on He went once a month all through school.

Good Luck.

recent good results have helped some in hyperbaric chambers. these tubes have been used for years for deep sea divers who experience "the bends" when surfacing too fast. no guarantees of course and it is fairly new for autism. your doc may not be familiar with it but ask anyway
