You must have a High School diploma or a GED with 15 credit hours of college. Just because you have a HS diploma or GED with credit doesn't mean you will get in. The AF is downsizing and therefore is highly selective and turn many people away. You might want to take a refresher course in English, though.

Well twenty years ago you did my boys study over seas
so when arriving they were already graduates of strict military
Don Bosch prep.students so off they went into the military
with a degree one whom learned to fly the other grounded
to work with the officials 20 years now retired with a good back ground yet their uncles were in the Army and ranked as much as they did my oldest brother went in at 17 he got his diploma and the other followed after high school..
in the Air Born and made it a 32 year Career
This is an amazing arrangement you have made and a privilege to serve your country and the benefits to retire
and continue to study with its benefits so if its not the air force there is always the Army and if you want to continue you can join the air force once you studied some and served your term is it 4 years go to a recruiting office and find what They can do for you I wish you all the luck in th world cause you will get to meet all of it,

either high school diploma or ged would do... but high school diploma will help him out alot, with a high school diploma all you need to score in your asvab is a 36... but if you have a ged then your score must be atleast a 65... in very rare cases, if the applicant possesses special skills (such as speaking a foreign language that the air force considers critical), the score of 36 can be waived to 31... the air force allows less than 1% of its enlistees each year who have a ged instead of a high school diploma...

You and your cousin should ask the recruiter. He or she could give you a far better answer then any of us!
And, sometimes (only sometimes, not all the time) they can help with finishing a GED.
But ask your recruiter, he or she can tell you for sure.
And, thank you for joining and keeping us safe!

Yup. Every branch of the service requires one these days. If he would quit H.S., then chances are, he would want to quit training. No self discipline. Plus, he lacks the basic education requirements needed to today's modern military.

The USAF i believe requires one,or a GED.
I think even the USMC requires one now,but can
make exceptions.
The USAF has smallest number of Desertions. The ARMY the most.and then USN
And next to the least is the USMC
