he is very smart, but when people ask me what he is they cringe there teeth at him, hes not mean at all, but for some reason the thought of a chow and a pit mix makes people uneasy, he dont look like a pit, but thats probablyu for the good... i should start telling everyone he is a lab mix, i have to cut his hair cause all the groomers around here wont take in them breeds what a reputation!!!!

I was going to say pit/chow mix. My friend has a pit/chow mix and they look exactly the same!

I would guess from his square muzzle he has Labrador. He could also be border collie or any other dog with pointed ears and long hair. I've seen black golden retriever mixes too which can create the long hair.

He's very handsome and if it is a Lab Border Collie mix you have a very smart dog on your hands.

Oh, just saw your hints. Black poodle and Vizsla?

He looks a lot like my Bach (except he has a little bit longer hair than my Bach) and Bach is a Black Lab/Chow mix. I couldn't tell if your dog had a purple tongue.

If he is part chow chow, could the other half be Red/Irish setter, or Rhodesian Ridgeback.
