On Thanksgiving when my family went to my aunt's, my uncle had what my aunt beleived to be a stomach bug. He stayed in his room the whole time. The next day, everyone in my aunt's family had come down with it. On Saturday, my brother woke up with uncontrollable vomiting, and such bad diarreah (sp?), that he honestly didn't know which one was coming first. He was so sick, he couldn't make it to the toilet 2 times and ended up getting sick in bed, and was down with this sickness for about 48 hours. Last night, me and my mom were talking about how lucky we were to miss out on it. Then at 3 this morning, she got violently ill. I'm extremellllyyy scared....I can't miss work, and I have a huge phobia of throwing up; infact I dont think I have since about 2nd grade and I'm 22! I know its a dumb question, but what can I do to protect myself? I take prenatal vitamins on a regular basis, but what else can I do to ensure I hopefully wont get this?

Wash your hands frequently especially stuff that is used by the whole family.
Try to get adequate sleep.
Other than that not much you can do.

Oh dear! I had something like that once- and it was no fun at all.

The vitamins might help. Make sure to wash your hands frequently, and use a good mouthwash. Disinfect your bathroom with alcohol or Lysol often- especially on the assorted handles. Wash your bedding and towels in HOT water: That will help kill the germs. Consider drinking cranberry juice: There is something about it that renders e. coli bacteria harmless, so it might work on other germs too.

I can't guarantee that you won't get sick: You probably have already been exposed to the virus or whatever is causing the condition. But that should tip the odds a bit more in your favor.

Good luck!

Theres nothing you can do it sounds like a common stomach bug if you do get it just drink plenty of boiled water very important for 2 reasons 1 is to flush you through and the other most important 1 is so that you dont get dehydrated then when you feel better start back on light snacks.

simple universal precaution...Hand wash before and after meals, use of alcohol or alcogel, sanitize your toilet because that's where bacteria stays after your family members have used it, and thats how you get infected. Increase your immune defense, vitamin C will do. Take care!
