We are going to Maui for our honeymoon, & from the research I've done that should fit in your budget. Also, the whales migrate in the winter to Hawaii & it is amazing to see them there & in December you would have a good chance of seeing them. Almost all the hotels in Maui offer honeymoon/romance packages that can include rental car/breakfast/airfair for reasonable prices. You may want to do some research and decide what island you would want to stay on, as they all offer different atmospheres & things to do/see, depending on what you both enjoy doing on vacation & what kind of honeymoon you want to have. I don't recommend going on a cruise that visits all the islands in 5 or 7 days, there's just to much to do & see to pack it in while also being on the cruise ship....a friend did this & they ended up paying extra to book a hotel & stay a few days instead of leaving on the cruise.

I would recommend going on a cruise. San Francisco is a major port of call for the cruise ships - if you don't want to go to Mexico, you can try looking into British Columbia or Alaska cruises. The cruise is a nice option because it is all-inclusive, and once you step on board this ship, you don't have to worry about anything other than having fun.

If you don't mind traveling, you can come visit San Diego for a few days - it should be pretty sunny, in spite of the time of the year. Or look into more exotic destinations like the Caribbean (not sure what the weather is like there in winter, tho). Australia or New Zeland could be nice, too - although it might be more expensive.

Are you banned from entering Mexico? j/k. A Caribbean cruise or any of the islands there would work fine. How long are you planning to go and when? That time of year that will make a huge difference. And if you don't have anything reserved by now, then you are probably going to have to settle for the Florida Keys (not that that's bad or anything).

You could do Florida, but if you want warm, shoot for southern Florida, maybe the Keys. How about a cruise in the Caribbean? Or a stay at one of the all-inclusives on one of the islands? Why is Mexico not an option?

Any Sandals resort can get you in on that budget. We went to Sandals Dunns River Villagio in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. I believe our cost was $3000 total (or per person..I can't remember) but either way...you can always choose how long you stay, and the best part is it's all-inclusive with a shuttle from the airport!

take a nice 3 day cruise there very inexpensive and everything is included (lodging, food, entertainment) me and my husband took a 7 day cruise to Alaska for our honeymoon and if cost about $5000 with air fair. we then took a 3 day cruise to Mexico for our one year anniversary and it only cost us $2000 dollars with air fair. cruise are great because there inexpensive you don't have to worry about travailing from hotel to hotel and the food is to die for we had steak, lobster and desserts and everything was all you can eat (yes even the lobster). if you do go with a cruise i really like Celebrity there the best bang for your buck but there are a lot of options out there.

We went to a travel agent with our budget and told her what kind of honeymoon that we wanted. She was then able to give us different options that would fit into our budget, but still allow us to enjoy our honeymoon.

My husband and I went on a Carribean cruise and loved it. Cruises are all inclusive, you visit several sunny places and the food is safe, so no nightmare bowel stories. If you go on excursions, you book ahead of time and the cruise line transports you. Look on travelzoo for great deals.

What about Dominican Republic. The weather is going to be good. The service is great and is cheap. 3,000 is going to be more than enough for a week.

Try to get something around Punta cana!!! You won't regret it!

Great beaches, great service and nice weather ( and cheap) what could be better.
