I took some photos on a digital SLR at maximum resolution. These won't open on Microsoft Photo Editor because they are too large. Can I reduce the size in any way? Would need to do so outside Photo Editor, since I can't open the pictures.
I have been able to open these pictures with Internet Explorer, but can't print them properly... only the top left hand corner comes into the print view, and that's all that will print. Is there any way I can get Internet Explorer to print these in full? I've been in Page Set-Up and in the Print... tabs, but can't find anything that causes the full picture to display for printing (in Print Preview).
As a result of inability to open in Photo Editor, and to change print set-up in Internet Explorer, I have been unable to print these pictures, which is what I want to do... can you help?

If you go to http://pctutorials.at3host.com there is a section under graphics that takes you through this whole process. Because your camera takes such large photos, you will need to resize often so that you can view them easily and send them to friends. There are several tutorials including a few videos that show you just how easy it is to rezize and crop. The program i suggest is Irfanview, it's free and a download link is there also. Irfanview is a very serious program without too many bells and whistles that young people like. Thus it's not mentioned in YA often but it has over 30 million users, many of whom are professionals who just want to do what you want to do. The tutorials are for the previous version (the new one was released a week ago) but everything in them is current.

There a quite a few photo-editors free on the market or get one from a disc with a PC mag.
Almost all these have a facility to change the image size. Before you do so, keep a copy of the original. With a file that large you could safely reduce the image size to say 50%. Keep the ratio vertical to horizontal constant otherwise it will be distorted.

I use Lview Pro (www.lview.com) to do this kind of thing. Its a pretty handy little editor and not too expensive.

It can handle large jpgs just fine.

Download either Irfanview or Xnview. Both are graphic viewer/editors. You graphic will open in either. I tend to lean toward Xnview.

Try importing them into Word and printing from there, if not invest in a copy of Photoshop
