i want to get my husband one for christmas, is it really worth that much money??

If he is a gamer YES!! And watches movies because of the Blu Ray player built in, buying one it self is almost as much.. Blu Ray looks awesome by the way!! Playing online is FREE compaired to xbox (money hungry microsoft) We have both ps3 and xbox... xbox if you want the hd player 200.00 extra the hook up for the internet $$$ extra.. I like the xbox but PS3 you get more for free!! Check out how many people are sending there xboxes back to microsoft because they are over heating but you can buy a cooling fan fo extra of course..

Shelly, you are an idiot. I'm not sure if you are lying on purpose, or if you are actually just that ignorant, but it is obvious that you don't know what you are talking about. Try doing some research, don't just repeat what you hear from obviously unreliable sources, and/or make up things because of brand loyalty.
If you answer you're supposed to be intelligent, and know something about the topic being discussed. You fail in all respects.
The blu-ray player alone makes the PS3 worth the purchase.

It is most definitely worth the money. Don't listen to the people who said Xbox either, to get the Xbox to do the stuff the PS3 has built in you would have to spend hundreds and the Xbox has a load of problems anyway. I'm sure your husband will love it if you get him a PS3.

Yes it is. Considering all thats packed into it, like a blu ray disc player, dvd player, mp3 player, and ports for all your camera memory chips and video cards. Wireless remotes that last for a week solid (re chargeable) and wi fi blue tooth capable.
The x-box 360 might be cheaper at the start, but you pay another 100.00 to get wi fi, and you have to pay for every simple feature that the ps3 has built in. it also has NO blu ray capability, and the game support will never be as good as the PS3.
And finally... the xbox 360 is loud. The ps3 is silent.

After a lot of research between XBox 360 and Playstation 3, I decided to go with the XBox. You'll get a lot of varying opinions on here about which one's the best, but you really can't go wrong with XBox.

1). Cheap Blu-ray movie player
2). Strongest game console on the market.
He'll be able to enjoy next-gen gaming (PC, that is somewhat close to PS3, will cost around 2000 US $).
Blu-ray movies are outselling another new format (HD-DVD), picture is much clearer. If you plan to watch a lot of Blu-ray movies - get Blu-ray remote too:

Also you can use your PS3 for web surfing, music (it's a good multimedia center too). If you plug it into LAN network with your PC - you'll be able to watch and listen to your multimedia straight from the PC without downloading.

Yes, its amazing.
People who trash PS3 are usually people who blew their money on a 360 and have nothing better to do than trash PS3 while their 360 is getting repaired because they are garbage!
PS3 is worth every penny.

Not even close. Honestly, do yourself and him a favor, get an Xbox 360 for him. He will enjoy it a lot more. There are tons of games and you can play online. Check it out!
Whoever thinks a PS3 is going to sell out when they didn't even sell out at launch is retarded.

I have xbox 360, it is definately WORTH the money, though im not sure ps3 is. I wanted a ps3 for a while until my friend got one and everytime he plays a game the stupid thing glitches. So im not sure how soon you should buy one. If i had extra cash, i would probably wait a while to get one, but its up to you, i heard they are fun though so.........
