Controversy straight ahead! Skin color is a factor for me. Too dark is too much. And dry hair bothers me. If I can't rumple my hands through it, it's not worth much.

Yes, I understand that personality is an important factor but so are looks. I have nothing against African-Americans at all. I grew up with many as friends.

I don't know; it seems like I'd only be attracted to a black man or woman with more Caucasian features. Straight hair and lighter skin.

Our preferences in what is desirable to us in no way, shape, or form make us racists......Hatred makes a person racists......If I like tall men instead of short men it does not mean that I hate short men.....it only mens that I prefer to look up into the eyes of the man of my choice instead of looking down into his eyes.

No, that don't make you a racist.

If you are a Black man, however, it means you have some serious issues.

And if you are indeed a Black man or a person of color, then you apparently hate who you see in the mirror every time you look in it.

How sad. How so very, very sad for you.

It must be extremely hard hating one's self.

Michael Jackson became a freak because skin color mattered so much to him.

Please don't let the same thing happen to you.

And should your children come out with hair that can't be rumpled through and/or non-Caucasian features, please still love them. It's not their fault that you have so much self-hatred that you can't appreciate who God wanted you or them to be.

No I don't think so. We are all attracted to different physical aspects of people be it the size of their nose, lips, feet, whether you prefer brunettes, blonds, redheads. The way a person dresses. There needs to be a certain attraction to a person.

However, when it comes to finding the right person to spend your life with it can be very difficult to find the right mix. Looks is on the bottom of the list for me. I'm not saying it's not important because there has to be a certain level of attraction. However, I have dated some really good looking people that after awhile don't appear as good looking because of their personalities. I have dated average looking people who then become very attractive because of who they are.

If you close the door because someone doesn't fit your cookie cutter mold of what you want them to look like you are missing out of many other attributes that they may have to offer. I think when your young you go on physical appearance alot in terms of who you date but as you get older and are more serious about settling down you realize there are more important aspects when choosing a mate for life.

No, I'm in no way attracted to black men, but I'm by no means racist. Skin color is an attribute just like anything else. Just like any other quality you might look for or avoid in a partner. I'm not attracted to white guys with red hair either, but it doesn't mean I'm prejudiced against them. It's just another thing that's a matter of personal preference.

Nope. You just have a "type" that you want to date.

The fact that you feel you might be racist is a token to our hyper-sensitive lawsuit-oriented society. You're scared to have an opinion on who you should date, and that's not right. You should date people you find attractive. Trust me, there are plenty of other people of other races that don't find caucasians attractive. The difference is no one would dare call them racist because in the current U.S. worldview, only whites can be racist.

Everybody is entitled to their own opinion. Some people would consider that racist as you are segrating one group of people from another. You are the only one who can decide who you want to date because that person needs to make you happy. Would you be upset if one of your friends was dating a black man/women or even a family member. If you would be upset then you would probably considered racist as you are judgning them by how they look and not their personality.

Not necessarily racist. Attraction is an interesting thing. I really don't want to date men that are shorter than me, I just don't usually find them appealing, it just doesn't do it for me when I hug them. Does that make me prejudice against short people? I think if you disliked black people in general, just for the fact that they were black, you would be racist.

In personal affairs... who attracts you, has nothing to do with racism. Geezus, if that was the case, we'd all be sexists or racist or some other ungodly tag because we preferred blondes or blue eyes or tall guys or curly hair...

No. On a personal level for dating and sexual attraction, the race card just won't play.

No, of course you're not racist! Everyone has a preference and with finding a person, there has to be attraction. If you're not attracted to dark skinned women it doesn't make you racist. It makes you human.
