I bought a dodge magnum used from the dealer and got it inspected and the factory tints caused me to fail! arent factory tints legal or have I been misinformed?

bull..... There are a few companies that do actually tint the windows factory illegal..dodge is one of them... have seen it happen ... brand new cars failing the tent test on the emmission inspection.. And to your question you have been misinformed ... certain states allow darker tint than others and you are probably in one of those states by the sound of it.... And the bad part is you will either have to fight it or remove it which in some cases means geting a whole new glass... Sorry!

All motor companies are in compliance with NHTSA and DOT requirements when it comes to window tint. They are also within requirements when it comes to state inspections.
The factory will NEVER tint the front windows or the windshield.
Also, check your bill of sale. Many dealerships have a policy that if you purchase a vehicle that was inspected by the dealership, and fails inspections (within 30 days of purchase) the dealership will help correct the issue.

IF THEY ARE FACTORY THEN THEY ARE LEGAL IN ANY STATE THAT REQUIRES A VEHICLE INSPECTION, ALSO FACTORY TINTED GLASS WILL NEVER HAVE ANY TYPE OF FILM ON THE GLASS IT IS BETWEEN THE GLASS.

the previous owner probably had them added. Yes tints that were put on by the factory-not aftermarket are legal.

Take it up with the dealer. The car should be legal, but every state has its own rules, and not all cars are made to conform to all the different rules.

are you sure it is factory tint? I would compare it to another similar vehicle and year model.
