Yes, it most certainly was. The way that the allies forced punitive measures against the Austrian-Hungary/ Germans led to complete upheaval. The Germans, destitute and shamed, found solice and strength and pride in a young Corporal named Hitler. The failure to deal with the arising feelings of nationalism and rearming fo the nation, lead to a renewal of hostilities in 1939.

More or less, in the same way, WWI was a continuation of the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-71.

WWII was caused by letting the German people become so poor they admired a nutcase who led them to ruin.
Now we let Afghans and Iraqis become so poor they will support nutcases too, like taliban.
Answer: never let a population become so poor they support extremist nutcases.
The answer is not military (fighting makes a nutcase ideology stronger) the answer this time is to cut off the supply line to the taliban and extremists: use much less oil. Pay afghan farmers for their poppy crops directly and buy up the poppy crops so the taliban cannot supply drugs. And improve social conditions in US and UK so there is not the demand for drugs caused by bad housing and poor education standards.

i agree with happy citizen paying tax, president wilson caught the flu at the end of ww1, a war planned 2 centurys before it started, the germans were very bitter as their economy was ruined, wives using wheelbarrels to pick up their hubby's daily salary of worthless marks, so the germans were happy to listen to any lunatic and they did know that he was crazier than a toilet bug

no, but ww2 was partly caused by ww1. the war compensation that Germany had to pay allowed Hitler to grow his supporter base. the fact that the US was not part of the peace treaty of WW1 also caused WW2.
