We realize as believers that everything real that is being done in the eyes of God is in the spirit and the spiritual realm. I have been so impressed with how crucial our spirit is. We know man is tripartite, made up of a spirit, soul and body as seen in 1 Thess 5:23
We are told in romans that we are to walk in the spirit. the word reveals that we pray in spirit. we worship in spirit and truth. we love in spirit we build up the body of Christ which is in spirit. How well do we know this faculty in our being that is made to match God Who Himself is Spirit. Zechariah 12:1 says that God made three amazing things in this universe. The Heavens, the Earth and the spirit of man within him. Share with us on this matter of your human spirit that has been regenerated and one with the Lord? How you see it in terms of function, purpose, operation, sense, or anything that you would like to share with us on this important part of man.

Ty so much in advance

Just based on the responses here I'd just like to say that there is a distinction between man's human spirit and his soul. There are not one and the same. The bible is very clear in Hebrews that the word divides the soul from the spirit.
The soul is man's personality with the Mind Emotions and Will. The spirit is the faculty in our being that matches God. Its this part that makes us those that are made in God's image and likeness. Our spirit distinguishes us from the animals. Our spirit is this special part of our being that is able to have fellowship with God, its has the function of intuition and conscience as well. Its the also the part of our being that is regenerated when we are saved. FROM our spirit God is able to work on and transform our damaged soul. Renewing the Mind. Causing the Emotions to love God and Strengthening the Will to choose and stand for God. Its the one part of our being where satan cannot touch. Its sanctified unto God. No footprints of satan here.

Brother Don I echo whats on your heart as well. May we all truly be in the central lane of what God is after. Unless we know our spirit there is no way for us to go on in a healthy way in this spiritual race we have been called to. I received much help from Watchman Nee's "
The Spiritual Man" http://www.ministrybooks.org/books.cfm?id=%22%2B%2C0%20%0A

And also a book called" The Economy of God " by brother Witness Lee.

Both available freely online at the above links

Lets keep praying and trusting the in the Holy Spirit to unveil much to all of us regarding this crucial matter in the word.

When the Bible refers to the "inner man" it talks about a new creature in Christ Jesus - a spiritual creature, spirit and soul.It is beyond doubt that the soul and spirit are two separate things.
The spirit within us often is the fountain of all that we do.It effects our desires, emotions, mental and moral qualities. Our spirit thinks, feels, and wills what we do and say.
It also has qualities: ''poor in spirit'' (Matt. 5:3); ''spirit of meekness'' (Gal. 6:1); "of bondage'' (Rom. 8:15); ''of jealousy'' (Num. (5:14); ''of fear'' (2 Tim. 1:7).
We need to be always on guard that we allow the Holy Spirit to lead, guide and move us to rule over our own spirit, (Proverbs 16:32; 25:28).Those that give in to the flesh and allow the ''spirit of error'' to rule will find their walk with the Lord miserable an become unprofitable. Those who find themselves in this situation need to turn themselves over to the ''spirit of truth'' (1 John 4:6).
When sin is keenly felt, our spirit becomes ''broken'' (Prov. 15:13). If we fail to deal with the sin there is the danger of becoming "proud in spirit" (Eccles. 7:8).
Sister you have asked a question here that every living soul should take tremendous heed to.I will be praying that the Holy Spirit will allow you to continue on this very subject. You have awakened something in me that I have thought about, but not like I should have.God Bless You!

I am a spirit, who has a soul and lives in a body. My human spirit was dead before I met Jesus. His salvation allowed the Holy Spirit to come in and give life to my human spirit. He lives in my spirit as my tutor, teacher, comforter, mediator, God, revealer, inspiration. The Spirit of Jesus through His Holy Spirit lives in me and I have been changed.

Christianity is all about relationship with God. Its not about religion/rules. Because God's Spirit lives in me I have the power to communicate with and understand God's Words to me. His Spirit in me is why my behavior and attitudes are different now. "Christ in you (me), the hope of glory" (paraphrased)

I met Jesus Christ when I was 18. All I knew of Church was that my first minister molested me, as did my grandfather an ex-minister satanist who abused me, and the youth group was mean to me because I was not cool enough! I think that my becoming a Christian is a Miracle! I was set up to become a satanist or atheist (I bet God rubbed satan's nose in it when I became a believer, don't you think? ). God's Holy Spirit keeps on working with me to heal my past and help me become what Jesus wants me to be when I "grow up" in Christ.

The older I get the more I am Totally Impressed with God!!!

Sandy, my Christian walk is totally a spiritual process...I remember the Poem Footprints in the Sand, when the writer (Jesus says thats was the time when I was carrying you) that is a direct reflection of my Christian walk...as I go through life and as I mature: I try more and more to listen, follow and feel the Holy Spirit in my daily life. I want to feel His Presence in my life, in my decisions...I ask Him to carry me, but I want to feel Him doing it...yours in Christ Blue316

Without the human spirit/soul there would be no need for salvation, therefore no Christianity. Without the spirit we would be nothing more than interesting primates.

Each & every believer in Christ posesses the Holy Spirit......so yes.....the Spirit is mucho importante.
