I'm with you. I miss hearing churh bells calling people to worship on Sunday mornings. Now, in my hometown, my old church still rings the bells on Sunday mornings just before worship time, as do many other churches. Also, the Lutheran church plays hymns on the church bells every weekday at noon. Oh, how I miss that!!!! The church I go to now is well on its way to being a megachurch, and the building does not even look like a church--I swear that's some of the problem with Christianity today. We try so hard to fit in and not offend anyone that no one can tell the Christians from the non-Christians, and churches look so much like other buildings now so they don't stand out and offend others. Oh, it's just discouraging.

It would be wonderful to hear them again. There is a church just a few blocks from where I live and my mom said it used to play hymns on chimes every day for about thirty minutes, but people in the neighborhood gottired of ti and voted to have the chimes removed. Mom said when she would sit out on Grandma's porch that it was beautiful. Especially at Christmas time.

They still ring bells here. Honestly I wish they would do it more. I love the sound. LOL And I'm not even Christian. I love bells. Carol of the Bells is my fav song too.

You should come to Baumholder, Germany then. Here, we have church bells every Sunday, and on Easter, and on Christmas.
It's beautiful. :-)
I can't think of a single reason why everyone shouldn't be able to celebrate their religious holidays as they wish. We need to stop striving for political correctness, and START striving to follow the Constitution (in that we're not supposed to be restricted in our expression of our chosen religion).

The bells do not offend others------------by what they are suppose to be saying. It offends the ears, the peace and quiet of whole neighborhoods.
I have lived near bells---and I did not like it.

The last three cities I've lived in, including my current one, have always had church bells ringing in Xmas day. Perhaps you aren't paying attention while you are avariciously opening your presents, or perhaps you are making this up so you can claim persecution.

The non-church goers are going to complain about the bells, as they did in my neighborhood years ago and had silenced them.
I am with you... I think it was wonderful - to me it was reminder of God and his beauty.

Personally I like sleeping in so I am happy if they're gone. But they're not gone, are they? No they are not, you just want to play the underdog for a bit.
