Right! Same reason there are still other primates besides humans. Some get stuck in an evolutionary cul-de-sac because they have found their niche. They survive, but they stagnate. That's why humans need to refine the "survival of the fittest" by the other major evolutionary power: mate selection.

Protestants are just a group that seperated off from the Catholic Chruch when they started to disagree with the teachings of the Catholic religion. Not all the Catholics became Protestants, which is why Catholics still exist.

Because Catholics believe different things then protestants. Just believe some catholics went to protestant, doesn't mean all of them will.

I often ponder that too, I think Monty Pythons Meaning of Life got it right, that the Papists regard every sperm as sacred and so make sure they are all used, while the Proddies are too up tight to have sex except by accident. So the former out bred the latter.

Well they all came from Jews and there are still Jews too.
Basically because everyone is a little different, and no two people believe exactly the same thing, so to expect everyone to shift their beliefs all into the same basket isn't realistic.
If it weren't too complex to pull off, most people would probably have their own specific religion that was just a little different from everyone else's.

Any large group will begin to fail to maintain agreement with all of its members. Once that disagreement becomes large enough, splinter groups will separate themselves from the main group. That does not necessarily mean that the original group will cease to exist.
Hope that helps.

Protestants are not evolved Catholics, they are Catholics who couldn't hack it in the major leagues.
