As a former atheist, I would say that atheists are just living for pleasure for the most part. No, they don't have fear about God. God is not on their radar screen. They are not really concerned about why they are here. Many lead moral lives, do good things, and try to help people and various good causes because they think that is what life is all about.

Man you people start early....
Are you too scared to accept the Pagan Gods? What is unmeaningful about their lives? Just because their lives aren't like yours? Well then, your life must be unmeaningful because you don't believe in my Gods and Goddess'. You can't possibly think there's only one God that gave us ALL of this different stuff in the world. How could the earth have meaning with only one God?
Do you see how silly the question is now? Can you, for one moment, step outside of your little box and place yourself in someone else's shoes if for no other reason than to TRY to understand where they are coming from?

They are realistic about a world that is full of disappointment and selfishness. Ask any religious person to explain why there’s so much hurt in the world; why wealth isn’t evenly spread, why conditions are so diabolical for people who live in poverty and oppression. Atheists are not necessarily immoral or evil people – they live by their own values and beliefs about what’s right or wrong in the world.
And being religious doesn’t automatically make someone a great person either; think about the Catholic priests and child abuse scandal for five minutes and you’ll see my point.

What is the truth about god???
If he exists hes doing a pisspoor job.
he should just come down and say you lot are right and the rest of you are wrong now stop fighting amongst youselves.
Why should I believe in anything that stirs up so much hatred?
The meaning of my life is to be happy and I am, if you need to believe in god to be happy then good luck to you, But don`t tell me I need to believe in god to have meaning in my life because your wrong.

The words of your question betray the truth, that you are scared there is no god,and have grown up in an intellectual vacuum where you cannot comprehend any "meaning"to life without your particular god assigning you one. This is sad indeed.I am sorry you feel the only meaning in your life is to one day worship at the throne of the being who sentences your loved ones to eternal damnation, that is a bleak outlook indeed.Read a little,it takes very little to realize the entire Christian concept is a sham.Everything, cover to cover,it's all crap. The idea of a supernatural, eternal being whose sole "meaning"for existence is to "trip you up"
Come on,that is a pretty ridiculous idea.Along with everything else in that silly book of myths.Surely, there is more to our existence than basically being a wager between two competing gods over where our eternal soul will reside?THINK A LITTLE

Oh, My! Such an insult!
Dear, if the only meaning you have in your life is through imagining that some mythological sky daddy created you, then your imagination is sorely poor.
Everyone's life has meaning because of their connections to other people in their life (because we evolved to be a social species) and because of what they can point to as accomplishments. Such meanings are claimed as we go along through life, and although they may change, they need not be based on superstition or magical thinking.
And as for living and then dying, this is the condition that we share with the animals, trees, and bacteria. This is our most basic connection to our environment. None of us can escape it, and personally, I can no longer fathom wanting to.

life is what you make of it. I would much rather live a meaningful life in which i achieve things, help people and am generally happy than live a life devoted to some god who may not even exist.
Maybe your right, maybe your not. Personally i don't care, now i'm off to enjoy life while its here, that isn't going to change whether i believe in God or not.

The truth is not scary to atheists, it's scary to believers and that's why they need to invent a magical invisible sky daddy that "loves" them and is going to take care of them.
And I'm not going to dignify the old tired claim that atheists have meaningless lives with a response. It's ignorant, and that type of claim serves only one purpose, and that's to make believers feel superior. It's the sort of thing that they love to tell each other.

I notice people treat others badly when they want corrected but don't/can't ask for help. Some people may want to know and be around faithful without saying I am faithful.
The world is full of stigmas. Think of what causes the problem versus the problem or something else to cure it.

you mean we should praise an invisible man who lives in the sky, whom according to the bible, has commited more murders than Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot and Ghenkis Khan put together, is a mysoginistic homophobic, ethnic cleansing, sado masochistic infant killer? Thats what we should believe in huh? Seems like you're the one who's scared to accept truth, the truth that there is no god, the bible was wrote by men with their own issues and agendas. You are seriously seriously deluded. I hope you're unable to have children as you would only fill their minds with the crap you believe, which in itself is a form of child abuse.
