Based on studies that show there are less fatalities and serios injuries, the insurance companies lobbied to have seat belt wearing mandatory in order to cut down on large claims. So, besides helping to save your life, it also helps keep expenses down for the insurance companies which supposidly is keeping insurance rates down...don't know about that!!!

Thank Newton for proposing that law of motion. Heard of inertia? Its the resistance of a body to change its state of rest or uniform motion unless acted by an external force. Ever felt like moving forward in a bus or train or any vehicle, when it brakes? Its because of inertia that you continue to move forward a little, even when the vehicle brakes to halt.

Now consider this. You are driving on a highway and suddenly slam with another vehicle (Pray, let that not happen). Your vehicle comes to a standstill all of a sudden but your inertia will make you to move forward and slam with the steering (with a great force).

A seatbelt is a device for saving you from such a mishap. Seatbelts ensure that you don't ram with steering or dashboard by confining you to the seat. They hug you to save.

Hope that helps. Even if you didn't understand what I said, the next time you drive, wear seatbelts and drive safely.

To help prevent your DEATH.

In the event of a collision, you are, still, better off safely strapped to your seat than you would be, bouncing off of the interior surfaces of your car, or splattered along a couple of dozen yards of asphalt.

That is why there are LAWS, requiring, not only the installation of seatbelts in new cars, but, also, mandating the WEARING of the seatbelts.

Whether or not you BELIEVE the safety statistics on fatalities and injuries, comparing occupants who do or do not wear the belts, it should be enough of a reason to wear them because it is the LAW.

In case you needed more convincing, seat belts can and have saved lives in many accidents. Don’t believe me? Well there’s at least 10,000 Americans a year (per the Highway Traffic Safety Authority) that are saved by them, why not track one down and ask them if you should wear one?

Better yet, talk to your local volunteer EMS or emergency medical squad members and ask them – they can remember many bad and deadly accidents that were made worse by victims not wearing their seat belts or not having their child safety seats properly installed

Since you are the one in control of the car, you need to be in the drivers seat. If you hit a bump or some other obstruction, you need to be in a position to still control the car.

You also need to be protected in case of accidents. It is also important for the passengers to be strapped in too. I know from experience that adults in the back seat can be thrown into the front seat if you hit something and stop suddenly.

good luck and be safe.
