Which is the best connection? An RCA cable with 1 male jack at each end or an RCA cable with 1 male jack at one end and 2 male jacks at the other end (y-type cable). Thanks.

You will get the same results. To be honest, the sound quality in a subwoofer wont make much of a differance, its only when you play around with tweeters and mid range will you notice significant difference in choice of wires.

The inside of the sub is a "Y" that mixes the L/R inputs together because a subwoofer is a mono device.

Some people like to get a "Y" adaptor from Radio Shack to feed both the L/R inputs from 1 RCA cable to avoid leaving inputs open to the air & noise.

Try this: Disconnect all inputs to the sub, turn the volume to its lowest setting and turn on the power. Touch one of the RCA jacks and SLOWLY turn up the volume.

Fairly quickly you should hear a 60 hz hum that disappears if you remove your finger.

You are basically injecting noise. A "Y" adapter plugs the un-used RCA jack so this does not happen by accident.

Whichever it's supposed to have. Mine has a single sub channel and uses the 1 male jack cable. If you're trying to dump 2 channels into the sub I guess a Y would work. Try it and see which works or sounds the best.
