The First station was that on Stockton, on the Stockton & Darlington, 1825.

First station to feature platforrms AND buildings was Liverpool, built by the Liverpool & Manchester, in 1830.

However, Curzon Street, Birmingham while worth a mention, was the first station in Birmingham, and is the only one out of the original London & Birmingham Main Line stations to actually still be standing, albeit without it's gothic arches to each side.
