You could try ebay.com. There may be travel agents that put tickets up for bid on this site. I do know that this is how they sold some of the tickets for the maiden flight of the Airbus A380 with Singapore Airlines. Also, try Priceline.com. You don't really bid, per se, on the tickets, but you give them your "bottom line" price for a particular ticket and if you are within their parameters, they will sell you that ticket for the price you set.

Try this: go to www.sidestep.com, find a flight and airfare you will accept, then try to beat that price by going directly to the airline's own website and see if their price is less than you saw on www.sidestep.com

Usually, the online travel agencies such as expedia, orbitz, travelocity, etc. are slightly HIGHER than dealing directly with the airline, this would be their commission (profit).
It is typically $5-10 per ticket higher.

The Priceline or Hotiwre tickets that you "bid" or "name your own price" for, are sometimes less expensive, BUT, you can NOT CHANGE the itinerary, routing, airline, etc, once you accept it.

do NOT even try to call the airline or the travel agency to say "This flight time/schedule/routing/etc doesn't work for me."
They wont/cant change it.. You use it as it is, or lose it.

One other thing, try calling Expedia or Travelocity, to fix any mistake they make, and find out you are calling someone on another planet, who has NO CLUE about customer service, airline ticketing, or even the difference between Dayton, Ohio and Daytona Beach Florida.

By the way, if you buy an airline ticket from a private deal on Ebay, it is almost certainly going to be confiscated by the airline. Ebay says: Please note that many airline tickets, vouchers, and frequent flier miles are not transferable. Unless you buy directly from a provider of travel, verify with your sellers that the travel-related item can be transferred legally to another party. You may also want to contact the travel provider directly and ask if they will accept it.

Go to priceline.com and you can bid on a fare and see if it is accepted.
