there are a lot of great answers, and they all are pretty much right.
i think nose picking is a built in mechanism. why does anyone do it, where does one even get the notion to pick their nose?
sometimes blowing your nose does not always work. is it gross, yeah, pretty much. but be considerate of others. if you pick your nose, be kind enough to wash your hands before touching something that might other wise be handled by other people.
farting is gross too, and stinky at times, does that make a person less than human, is the person gross? we are human and farting is natural. the truth is, most humans stink. we just cover it up with colone and deodorant. some how we have created ranks, and if you deny you stink, pick your nose, aren't as ugly as you really are, and never fart, you are somehow better than everybody else.
we are humans who have unpleasant problems, just because some of us cover it up more or better than others does not give right for those others to be treaded as less than dogs. as said before, just be courteous when you choose to break wind, pick your nose or decide not to wear deodorant.
i think you will find when you are faced with someone who disrespects you, bugars don't seem so bad after all.

I tell my 5 year old son he's a finger licken nose picker. Lol. He says he has to get them out. And on top of that the don't like to blow. Yeah a tissue will work just the same, but you know you did it when you were a kid. And beside that you still do it when no one is looking. Why do they eat them, I don't know that either but I think it just goes hand in hand. It's not going to hurt them! I just tease my son so he will stop. They eventually grow out of it.

Well, I do to and am not a kid.
Picking noses is just for comfort.
Children dont regularly flush and blow thier noses to clean them like we adults do. So, to remove access Mucus they pick noses...^^

Because that stuff irritates their nose and makes it harder to breathe, plus they haven't learned how to properly blow their nose yet, so their only solution is to pick it out.

would you want boogies stuck in your nose. sometimes we don't have tissues handy. i can't stand to have boogies in my nose it drives me mad! there is nothing wrong with it except in the etiquette area
