I don't really know why atheists post in Religion and Spirituality. But they do a service.
Most demonstrate the temperament that develops in the ungodly. Sneering, sarcastic, and bitter. The light of the gospel shines brightly in a dark place of faithlessness, doubt, and decay.
Atheists who take the trouble to make an argument against Christianity do an even greater service. They invite Christians and other theists to rethink and explain the reasons for faith.
Cheers,
Bruce

Well, I think I'd be more disposed to trusting someone who can spell convince. I mean i and e aren't even next to each other on a keyboard.
I think you're like this because deep down you know that it's just your brain creating the myth of 'god' to make you feel safe, and the fact that there are millions of other like mindedly deluded people out there only serves to strengthen your conviction.
Atheists have as much right to religious and spiritual debate as any religious subscriber. Mainly because atheists do not have a dogma to follow and many have disagreements with other atheists, because it is not a religion, it is a term to describe people who don't believe in 'gods'. Atheists have many different beliefs though.
Or do you think that people who believe certain things should have their rights curbed *cough* hitler *cough* facist *cough*, sorry I've got a computer virus.

The worst thing about Atheist is the fact that because they don't believe in God they think no one else should either. For people who don't believe in God and life eternal in the ever after they sure do spend a lot of time wasting what little bit of life they do have left on earth trying to disprove Christians.
I think Dane Cook put in into prospective.

Despite my personal love for sarcasm (and no, I'm not being sarcastic there for once), I do have one negative comment to make: it isn't just some of the atheists who show themselves to be very negative people here. Not all Christians come off so great in that department either.
Still, you get a star for this one.

hey goosebum......what does atheism have to do with agnosticism? All atheists are agnostic, all christians are agnostic. Do you even know what the world agnostic means? Gnosticism and Agnosticism deal strictly with knowledge.......gnosticism means "I know" and agnosticism means "I don't know". Both Christians and atheists (well, most of them) both acknowledge that they cannot know and do not know if god exists.....afterall, how can anyone KNOW without any proof. belief is separate from knowledge. When it comes to belief, there is "Theism" or "I believe" and then theres "Atheism" or "I don't believe".
For practically anything, you can either know it or not know it.....but you can also believe it or not believe it.
Take god for example.....christians would be agnostic towards god but still they would say "they believe". Atheists are also agnostic towards god, but they say "i dont believe".
Atheists realize that there is no evidence for god, so therefore they don't believe in him.
I laugh when people label themselves "agnostic" when asked about their beliefs b/c it has nothing to do with belief - just knowledge.
I'm an agnostic atheist (like most all other atheists)....it's impossible for me to know and theres no evidence, therefore i dont believe in god. You either believe in god or you don't - its that simple.

I'm SO glad to hear you say that. People -can- treat each other with respect. You -can- find serious discussion here, you just have to ignore the 'noise' and find the good stuff.
I would much rather talk to others about what we have in common.

The answer is respect. If there is respect, that is not impossible. I have read this last weak: "Blind faith is of the uneducated" -- I say this one is a mean thing to say. Very disrespectful thing to say.
I feel you.

I'm not going anywhere. This isn't the Christian section. Everyone is welcome here. If you can't take the heat, you find yourself another section. I'm perfectly comfortable with all religions and beliefs here, what's your problem?
