Some people worship God because they want to go to heaven. Others worship because they don't want to go to hell. Some worship to end the cycle of rebirth and enter Nirvana. All these reasons are selfish. "What God can do for me if I do this for him." Is there anyone who worships God for a reason that isn't selfish, and/or doesn't expect any kind of reward from God?

WORSHIP (?) , whats , God (?). Ooo my goodness me , because of that's all , was to be made upon ALEXANDER THE GREAT and none the less to JULIUS CAESAR , had led to the refusal of to accepting ALEXANDER and JULIUS as a LEADER OF THE PEOPLES by the GREEKS and also by the ROMANS CABINETS or CONGRESSMANS COMMUNITY , BECAUSE , BOTH OF THEM HAD REFUSED TO BE IT'S. And would you mind , the title CAESAR was only been used after JULIUS death , before that's , it's only be used for to refers of to how he was born.

some do. i are not getting any endorphins from it. I worship because of the fact he's God. And if God is all-powerful and created each little thing he merits to be worshiped. it extremely is staggering because of the fact he's the great i'm. --------------- uhhhh no. in reality i'm exhausted and might't sleep so incredibly lots all i believe is the glazed eye/extremely painful feeling. I also have a question for you. have you ever often been an trolling jerk? It confident sounds like it.

Good that you have talked about "Reward" somewhere in your statement. Come on what ever we there is a reward for it. Be it small or big. Noticed or unnoticed. Those things that you do en think that the reward isnt there, it is either a long term reward or you dont realise the reward. Simple.
You may give an apple an i say thank you. thats a reward. I might find sometime en give you a choclate. reward.
So when you talk about selfish desire, what do you mean.
Remember going to heaven has a price. when someone is trying to do that,do say they are selfish. so is going to hell.

God encourages us to worship through rewards... would we be motivated if they weren't there? Sure there may be 1 in billion who worship because of their pure love of God without fear of hell or desire for reward, but God loves all people. God is not in need of our worship. It is us who are in need of God and worshipping God. So why shouldn't our reason be selfish? We must all die alone and face God on the Day of Judgement alone. When God asks: what have you done for Me? perhaps he won't care about the worship and accept some random act of kindness instead from us... but I don't think hoping for reward and God giving it will dimish God's kingdom in anyway.

You have to believe the story that Jesus died on the cross for you or there is no reward.

Since that story appears in a book that has been edited and changed too many times by humans, the actual story may vary.

I am sure the intentions are good, but too many cooks spoil the broth. It's not fixable with a little salt either. If the truth isn't plain as day, there's got to be a simple reason to cover it up. I say buyer beware.

I worship God for what he has already done for me. It is not to get into heaven or stay out of hell it is because Christ came and died on a cross so that I might live true life and have it abundantly. I owe God, not the other way around because God has already paid the price for me.

Pantheists worship the Divine for what it is...all powerful, amazing, because when we recognize it, we can't help but worship. It is a natural response to the awareness of What Is.

There are no rewards, no afterlife, no special blessings, etc.
But worship does feel pretty amazing, recognizing awesomeness and acknowledging it is a great freeing feeling.

What God desires for us is for us to be His sons and daughters through a relationship of love.

So suppose I ask the question, is there any reason to have a relationship with our own parents, our own spouse, our own children that isn't selfish?

Love changes who we are; our very being. Self requires a barrier between us and our beloved but love dissolves that barrier so that we "forget" when self ends and the beloved begins.

Wow, that really is a good question. I think in a way it is selfish. But he did ask us, or instruct us to, so I guess in a way we are just doing as we are supposed to. Wow, that statment is going to give the non believers a field day, so I guess your welcome.

Honestly though, there are very few things we do that are completly selfless. Even favors, though we have different reasons for doing them, we still get something out of it.
