and also email or posting the valid reason from the person doing this critique, wouldn't this be a way to think twice before thumbing, reporting and trolling and cloning and have better quality and less upsets in Yahoo!Answers?
Has this been suggested before and if so why not done?
I think that's a good way to reduce this "friction" of opinions in Yahoo! answers.
I will also post this Q. in Y!A. and Greece section later.

William B this Question belongs here because as you can also see from lots of above answers, it is a concern in this secion too, as is in Greece, France and many others. To avoid ground for point games some may like. As you may know, it is disapointing after doing good work to answer or question something and then it disappears!
Then Wulf..moo you are probably new..

I agreed with you when I read your question, but some of the answers here have changed my mind. Still, it would be nice if there were at least the option to give a reason for a thumbs-down.

I don't care if you put my name and phone number and address down. If I thumbs down it is because I believe the answer does not address the question. Not if the answer is right or wrong. If I report an answer or a question it is because it has violated the Yahoo Answers Terms of Service, which is a long way of saying rules. I think that there is nothing wrong with your question. I do not think it belongs in Greece or in Religion & Spirituality.

sure that of course may well be extreme-high quality in spite of the actuality that i could no longer care much less one way or the different becuae the critiques of others on Y/A is of no magnitude to me. i ought to get a million thumbs up and 50 thumbs down and could no longer care much less. Hell often times I purposely say issues to work out what share thumbs downs i will get. the real element Y/A could do is demonstrate all the little sneaky @ssholes who record you. EDIT: To Mango down ther...precisely!"Due onto others as they via you!". Theres no longer something incorrect with revenge. do no longer do issues which you will not want completed to you.

While it sounds good on the surface, I don't think it would be a terribly good idea. Think about it. You report someone or give them a thumbs down, they know who you are, now, if they're not mature enough to let it go (and I'd say the vast majority of users here aren't), they've got a score to settle with you. Before you know it, the whole site deteriorates into a tit-for-tat report-fest.

My dear, as it was suggested to me, upon asking for intervention to stop the silly game, we shouldn't worry so much. When on an answer to a question, I got 19 thumbs down and you 24 down too, in a total of 14 answerers and 31 visitors, (That was the last count when I looked). That is only normal, it was said. In fact it may be, considering my record of 34 thumbs down.
Suddenly 20 or so persons are not in favor of what we express, and hiding behind anonymity they can do as they please.
It is only natural that the clones and the trolls can do their business un-touched and un-hindered by anyone. At the same time they get away, with their answers getting miraculously just as many thumbs-up.
Only on certain sections that can happen and we both know who is the culprit and how is done. And the fact that we complain gets their appetite more eager to continue.
So, we either stop complaining or we fight back. If we fight them, it will get us to their pitiful level and i decided I'm far above their heartless level.
I love people more than I love animals or buildings.
I suggest you do the same and let them be, loving their animals and their unimportant selves, that under pretexts of a grandiose past think as the vigilantes of the universe and the section of Y!A.

Nope wouldn't change a thing for me...
Everyone is entitled to their opinion if they wish to exercise that opinion by thumbs, reports, clones, trolling etc. it's no skin off my nose...
If Y!A is upsetting to you maybe you should reevaluate whether or not it s a good environment for you to be hanging out in...

If they posted the name of the person giving a thumbs down or report, all too often they would be hounded or threatened for it, even if the thumbs down or report was completely valid.

I think that is an excellent idea. If you are so ashamed of what are doing that you don't want anyone to know who's doing it, then maybe....drum roll...You Shouldn't Do It!
Actually, I have wanted to be able to give a reason as to why I hit thumbs down or reported someone. I like explanations. :)
