i need a camera where i can just point and shoot and not have the flash go off two or three times before it takes the actual picture(kinda misses the point of a surprise picture). i would like one with the shock resist thing so your pics dont come out looking blury even when your taking pics of cars going 40mph lol and auto focus features but most of all pic quality has to be great and 16:9 widescreen available. thanks for the help. and also price doesnt really matter as long as i get what i need and what im lookin for.

You'll need to get a camera where you can manually turn off the flash. The easiest way would be to get a cheap DSLR camera. One thing you get with these is great image quality, faster shutter speed, short shutter lag and startup time. No digital point and shoot can compare to even the cheapest digital SLR.

A suggestion would be the Nikon D40. It's cheap, and it comes with a lens. If you dont want to get into photography, this camera will suit your needs for many years to come.

Hope this helped.

Having used Pentax 35mm cameras for yeaers, I have now given in and bought a Pentax K100 digital SLR. It has shake reduction, flash that only fires once per pic. and auto focus. The pic quality is good (I've used it for weddings and been complimented on that. I'm not sure about thrt widescreen, though. Check it out. Hope this helps.

Canon makes a ton of cameras. Be certain that it has IS (image stabilization). I bought the A550 w/o IS because I couldn't afford IS.

My sis has the SD800 - rock solid pics at all ranges. Cost her more than twice what I paid - but since price is no object to you, I'd recommend the SD800.

My A550 gets respectable shots - but with a tripod.

Canon PowerShot S5 IS

Just turn the red eye feature off to eliminate multiple flash bursts.

16:9 widescreen as well.

Only you can decide this and the best way to find what you want would be to talk to someone at a camera shop.
