he was given antibiotics and creams each time , since using the medication it has now spread up to his elbow and his hand is swelling , would this be a reaction to the cream to cause this ,
he says it is very itchy
the Drs havnt said much just the swelling will go down soon,
if i took him to a hospital would they give him a allergy test

Sounds like Scabies.
A contagious infection caused by mites which burrow under the skin. This starts off between the fingers and toes and will spread. It is incredibly itchy also.
Scabies can be picked up from anywhere.
Don't panic. They are easily treated and should clear up in about a week.

Discontainue Use.
Go to an Allergist if the Doctors aren't telling you what he has and he is haveing bad reactions to what they give.
The Creams are Stereiods, if you are haveing an Allergic reaction to soemthing then these can make things worse.. if some thing is attacking you or getting through your skin that's alive then these can make it worse.
Basically the Steriod Cream is going to FEED THE PROBLEM in some cases.
An Allergist may give something, have something, or suggest something to clean the cream off that is hypoallergenic. Then after a while of dealing with getting the secondary problems dealt with, they can tell you if the first is something they recognize.
If they can't deal with it, they will send you to a skin specialist.
I have a retarded Doctor, too. The area I live is bad and with the Economy the Professionals and Employees are increaseingly those who will accept the lowest pay.

I would insist on seeing a dermotologist.Something similar happened to someone I know & the antibiotics given caused her problem to get far worse. It could be a fungal infection or an allergic reaction to something. To save time getting a referal,go to your local A&E & see if he can get seen sooner. My friend did this & she was given cream & her problem cleared in a week.Highly unlikely to be scabies from the way you have described it.

I agree with last poster. Go directly to a dermatologist. I wasted time with allergist and pediatrician for my boy. We thought it was his eczema acting up, but it turned out to be fungus. Especially since it's on the feet, I'd be suspicious of it. Don't let the MD jerk you around, insist on getting an appointment ASAP. Ask for a cancellation if they say they are booked. Ours does so much cosmetic stuff (botox and such) that you can end up waiting months if you are a new patient. Just ridiculous!

Even though you have been to the doctors and they should have seen it if it is, it sounds like scabies to me. You can get them just by taking money fom someone who is infected. I would go back to your doctor and ask the question.
