I'm buying a 40Gb ps3 becoz in australia 60 and 80 arent availabe and even if it's available it will be expensive .

I dont care about playing ps2 games on ps3

i thought you just buy ps3 and start playing games.

Is it a must do thing and if not will it get recked wasted

Yes, if you buy the 40GB PS3 you will still have to download firmware updates. The latest update is version 2.01 and it came out just last week. All of the PS3's require updating, and some games can't be played unless you update the PS3.

But really, downloading the update for the PS3 isn' that hard. You could just use a computer and save the update to a USB drive/SD Memory card and put the USB drive/SD memory card into the PS3 and update the PS3.

Also you can also just update the PS3 by using the PS3's internet connection.

You need to first setup a wireless network from your router from your broadband DSL or cable internet to your playstation 3. It's not necessary, but it is free. all you need to hook up is an ethernet cable to it from you modem.

ps3 has updated the system about every month so far. I toy camera has been added if you want to talk online. you can send messages to friends too. add wallpaper background like a computer, etc.

you can't play online without it.

nahh man it should come with it all i have a 60Gb and it came with it all and then me next door negibor got a 40Gb and his came with it all to.
the only upgrades are the firmware upgrades that sony says is needed for ALL the models of the ps3.
