Are you a Filipino?
if then, let me answer this in Filipino so i can express it in better way..shall we?

Filipino cutlure is known for close family ties.

If some foreign family will just leave their old people to some home for the aged, Filipinos would rather keep their old people and take care of them themselves. And they will happily do that because they owe it to this people that they were ever born on this Earth.

Children considers the thoughts/wisdom of their grandparents with high significance.

Siblings are not obliged but rather responsible to take care of each other even in terms of financials. There is a law in the Philippines that you're sibling can sue you if you refuse to assist him in his financial needs. this law says a lot bout their culture.

Filipinos are unique, simply because

1) we are Asians, first and last

2) we are also predominantly Catholic!

So much so that: if you put, say, a Filipino, Chinese and Mexican side-by-side, hands-down, people tell me I am more like our Chinese neighbors, inspite of our shared colonial history with other former Spanish colonies!

I guess, like most places whose religion was imported, we are Asians, with the Catholic-Christian veneer. Unique in all the world, if you ask me.
