I know im gonna get many answers saying, that i know because i feel jesus or whatever. but in point of fact there is no real evidence that god is backing your religion solely.
the bible was written by people. gods hand didnt write it. so how can you say that christianity is right,

im not saying that any other religion is right either. but you cant say yours is either.

BTW im not atheist, i just dont believe in Christianity.

Ok, here is the deal...mine is not the only true one. There are many different religions and all should be respected equally. I follow the path I am on because it is the one that is right for ME.

Before I say anything, I would like to point out that I am agnostic, so you won't think I am being biased in any way. Although you shouldn't think that any way, but hey people are people.
I think that they have to believe that their religion is the only true one, because it's a part of their religion to think that, and if you truly believe in something than it is true for you in your own mind. Not only that but everyone defends what they believe, in some way or another.
The problem that I have with this, is that so many of them don't tolerate others and their opinions and beliefs, and they try to convince everyone else that they are right. Which is not a very humble thing to do. And in doing this it seems to contradict what they believe in, because isn't part of being a christian being about forgiveness, and being humble or modest or whatever and let God do the judging??
But many Christians I have met are some of the most judging people I have had the displeasure of meeting. I'm not going to stereotype all Christians and say they are all like this, everyone is different and it wouldn't be fair. I'm just saying in my experience a lot of Christians contradict themselves to the point where I wonder if they truly believe what they say they believe.
In any case, I think that everyone should live and let live, and just respect each other's opinions and beliefs and instead of judging and hating each other, learn from each other. But that's just me.

EDIT: 19jay63 - you just added to my ever growing experience of biased christians who force their religions down everyone else's throats and think you are better than everyone else. Oh- by the way...there are thousands of different kind of religions. You only name Hinduism and Muslims. If that's all you know about then perhaps you need to stop making judgments and do some more research. Ugh.

This is what faith is for. I don't put down other people for their religious views. I'm not pushy nor do I argue about this. It is what it is to me. This is how I believe because its apart of me and always has been.

If people really knew God existed, not in "theory" but there was "TRUE" evidence that supports this... then I have no idea why one would not want to follow God and spend eternity in Heaven. With that being said.... where does that give us the opportunity to exercise faith?

There are many mindless acts that require faith that we are faced with each and every day of our life.... yet many of us dont question those things........

To be fair, not all Christians believe that. CS Lewis, a great Christian writer, said that God reaches down to anyone who reaches up to him. The particular religious tradition is irrelevant so long as one really makes an effort to be consistent and principled.

I was raised Jewish, and we were NEVER taught as kids that there was One True Religion. When the Catholic kids from across the street told me that their religion was the only true one, I was confused. My parents had always told me 'This is what -we- believe and this is what -they- believe'. I even asked our Rabbi and he said the same thing. "Judaism," he said, "-IS- the One True Faith. For a Jewish person."

I guess some people just have a need to think that they know something you don't. 8^)

I was an Atheist who ultimately was convinced that there had to be some higher power out there. It was my own deduction as to what the characteristics of the creator of the universe must be like that led me to Christianity. I put all world religions through a gauntlet of characteristics of 'God' and Christianity was the only one that made the cut.

The Bible was written to men, so God used as secretaries or penmen, humans. They were very carefully chosen, and inspired by God to get his message/s across, in language that men could understand...

If I were having a letter written to someone from another culture, or who spoke another language, I would choose as my secretary / translator a person who is very familiar with that person's culture &/or language, in order for my letter to get the right ideas across, as accurately as possible. And, that is just what God himself did... He used men, to put his ideas across to other men.

So, I believe that the only true religion, is the one that teaches what the Bible itself actually teaches, instead of man-made ideas & traditions, & often pagan ideas & traditions that have been adopted by self-proclaiming Bible believers, who unwittingly really aren't. These are the ones whose behaviors turn people away from belief in the Bible, & God himself.

(You are asking the equivalent of:
"Show me a photograph of [whatever], without using any camara." How reasonable is that?)

OK i am a christian so this is gonna sound weird but its OK if you don't believe in Christ because in Christianity during judgment in revelations every head must bow and every knee must fall and every tongue must confess that Jesus is the Christ in Islam during the judgment every head must bow every knee must fall and every tongue must confess that Jesus is not the Christ so the choice is your in the end we will all know who was right i know what i believe and i trust in what god has shown me so i have no doubt

Atheism, Theism, I see it all as the story of the blind men and the elephant.

Religion (& absence of religion) is represented by all the blind men all describing the elephant from their one position.

They are all right - from a limited position - and are all wrong when looking at the big picture.

2 Peter 1:19-21 "And we have heard the word of prophets made more certain and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your heart. And you must understand that no prophecy of scripture came about by prophets own interpretation. For prophecy did not have its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God led and carried by the Holy Spirit"

Oh you said no Bible versus Im sorry i thought I was quoting the inspired word of God My bad: retard.

Christianity stands upon this one fact. Witnesses. If there are witnesses to events then we have proof of its occurrence. Now, as to whether or not you want to believe the witnesses rest solely upon the hearer. If you believe the witness then to you it is true, but if you find fault in the witness then it is not true and the whole thing is make believe. Make sure you do not misjudge the messenger.
