Why not replace the road coarse races w/dirt track races like the prelude to the dream. I know it will not happen but it would be cool.

Great Feedback, I do disagree that it is too hard to pass on the road coarses the good drivers always end up front.

Lots of opinions on here.. I like road courses, lots of cup drivers are actually good on these, especially J. Gordon and Tony Stewart, Harvick, and alot of the other guys are getting better at them...I'd like to see one in the chase as well.. I like the dirt track idea, a couple big tracks like charlotte have a dirt track right by there, it would be cool especially in may before the allstar race...Get Smoke involved he loves the dirt, but then he'd want it at his track in Ohio...

The road courses should stay, and I think they should add a road course to "The Chase". BUT...

The problem with the road race is not that they exist, but that NASCAR allows "mercenaries" for this style of racing.

I don't think they should allow "road racers" to jump into NASCAR just for these races. In my opinion, it only helps the owners points, and hurts the drivers who normally drive these cars because they net zero points for the road races. This makes it near impossible for the drivers who have no ride for the road races to be able to compete in the chase.

If guys like Boris Said and Ron Fellows want to race in NASCAR, they should enter and try to qualify in every race, not just a handful of ovals and the road courses.

I'm also against "part-timers" in the cup series. If you don't want to compete the whole season, there are plenty of other drivers that are more than willing to replace you that do. I can understand if a driver starts the season and then later decides to retire (i.e. reaction times are slower and can't compete at this level anymore) but the retirement should be final and the driver should not be allowed to compete at the cup level again.

It is my belief that these changes would "level the playing field" and make competition tighter.

Do people root for the car, or do they root for the driver?

As far as dirt tracks, most of these drivers grew up inhaling dust, have already proven themselves in that format, and would probably view it as a step backward.

I like your idea, I like road races but only one or two here and there. if I wanted to watch road races then I wouldn't be watching NASCAR, I'd be watching INDY. It would be nice to see the big boys back on the dirt again but I don't think many of them would want to do it when there are points on the line. Some of them go back to the dirt tracks they ran on and do a race or two for the fun of it. We all know your idea would never go but it is a nice thought, keep that open mind and you never know what you can come up with, maybe one day you can get NASCAR to use one of your ideas!

I love to see the road courses. Some of them are very good road racers like both Gordons, Stewart, McMaurry (sp?), and Harvick. I think a dirt track would be cool. Maybe an exhibition race to see how it goes for a few years.

No Im old school leave the road courses in Just Put Sonoma in the Chase and drop off the 2nd California race it never sells out anyway. I race on dirt--clay ovals and love it. I dont think Nascar would let it go back to that though--Too many Beauty Queens and Hollywood types might get aaaaa DIRTY!!!!

No it would be silly to do that. NASCAR is stock car racing not dirt track race. If anything NASCAR needs to add 2 or 3 more road courses and lose some of these boring cookie cutter tracks they go to half of the time.

Replace road courses? No way. Add more and use their racing skills. I would love to see these guys race at Leguna Seca and I think they would love to race there. Do away with some of these cookie-cutter,roundie roundie race tracks and show what these guys can really do when challenged by a real race track.

...I am not a real big fan of the road courses for one reason. It's so hard for teams to pass in places like that.

...Now that sheds a light on something else. You have to be talented to pass on tracks like that so in another sense it has it's own excitement.

...I really don't care to see the road courses completely removed from the schedule but I do think there does not need to be any road courses in the chase simply because it's too difficult to gain position.

Wow, opinions all over the map here. If it were up to me I'd keep the road courses, drop a few cookie-cutter ovals, add a dirt track date, and add a quarter-mile drag race! Variety is good!

NASCAR needs to add a road course to the Chase, not eliminate the existing ones.

I do like the idea of a dirt track race.....but I don't know of a facility that could handle it.
