The same reason that Americans consider 9/11 an epic tragedy, Gettysburg a great victory, and we call the "War of Independence" a war for Independence. In the terrorist realm 9/11 was a huge victory, in England they consider the war in the colonies as a rebellion, and to this day some in the south won't celebrate the 4th of July (Vicksburg fell on July 4th, 1863).

I am glad to see you are occupying your time with important issues. Since the people that were involved in the activities you have mentioned have been dead for 100 years; what affect on your life does that have.

I bet I can guess where you are on the political spectrum and I bet Dr. Savage would call it a mental disorder.

Dear friend, maybe its me but your question is not clear to me.
I assume you are talking about Red Indians of America?

If yes then here is the answer;
There is a flip sides to every coin, each side need to win & identify hero’s & decorate them regardless of the way its done.

SUMMARY:-
In war battle or fight there are ethics & honor. A soldier is a hero if he fights another soldier but a Butcher if he fights unarmed or innocent human.
