I recieved a Browning Blegium semi-auto 12 gauge shotgun for Christmas last year. My only problem is that it has a stabalizer on the end to reduce the kick. When I shoot it the noise comes back to me so it doesn't "kick" as hard so it is easier to be accurate with. I want a new barrel for it that is not rifled but smooth rather. Is there anywhere I can find one online. It was made in the early 1950's.

I believe it is an A-5, but not for certain. It is in great condition but when I shoot it, it is so loud; oddly loud!

That is EXACTLY my shot gun but has the thing on the end that makes it too loud. I would really like a smooth barrel so I can actually use it.

That's a fine gun. The Browning Automatic-5 was the first semi auto shotgun and was made from about 1900 through 1998. It is easily identified by the squared off rear. The barrels are available but not cheap, see the first and second links as examples but in general a search for "browning a-5 barrel" should find what you want..

There's some very good information on setting up the A-5 properly in the last link, apparently people tend to put them together wrong.

I always wanted an A-5!

It would help greatly if you have a Model number to help determine which "Belgium" Browning Shotgun you may have.
Even a simple digital picture would go a long way to help determine model number if you do not know. It sounds like a Browning A-5 with a Cutts Compensator on it. You should know up front that barrels for a Brownings made in the 50's are going to be hard to find and expensive ($350-$600 average). There are no barrels currently being manufactured to fit the older Belgium Browning's.....

Check the following website to see if you have the shotgun pictured...

Sounds like you have a "Cutts Compensator" on it and if it's factory than don't discard the barrel or alter it, it's valuable. Any gun shop will likely have a barrel for it or go to brownells or cabelas websites for a replacement.

I doubt if you really need a new barrel on it.* Why do you believe you need a new barrel?* I had one, it is a great shotgun.*
