Yes it's true. He was suicidal, thought he was possessed and had seizures. Many historians, trusted by Muslims, have written about this.

I [Muhammad] said to myself, 'Your humble servant (meaning himself [Muhammad]) is either a poet or a madman, but Quraysh [a large Meccan tribe] shall never say this of me. I shall take myself to a mountain crag, hurl myself down from it, kill myself, and find relief in that way.' [emphasis added] (Tabari, Muhammad at Mecca, trans. W. Montgomery Watt and M V McDonald, vol. 6, SUNYP, 1988, p. 71, Arabic p. 1150).

God Bless.

Yes. it so happened that after he received the first reveletion, he did not receive further guidance for 3 years. He kept waiting and praying God. But no answer ! He thought he might have made a mistake and would be deprived of the honour of further revelations. So he got so deseperate that he thought he will jump from one of the mountains in Makkah.
When he reached the mountain top, he saw the same Angel
and got terrified.

He returned home and asked his wife to cover him with a blanket, as he was shivering from fear. Then Lo and behold
the Archangle Gabrael appears and Says :

" Oh thou wrapped up in thy raiment!
keep vigil the night long, save a little ---
A half thereof, or abate a little thereof...."

thus ordering him to stand in prayers at nights.

May peace be upon.

haha why would he do that? he had the best job in the world according to his religion. but you might be referring to when god asked him, very bluntly "if he was ready to die".
this is usually taken out of context as the situation was that mohammad's body was failing and that as he had acheived his goal(bring a religion of peace) within only 13-14 years to almost the whole globe. he now had completed the mission he was born to do.
pls next time see a scholar or a minister of religion about these issues as people can be very corrupt on the net.

No he wasn't!
After the first revelation he was only shocked about the event he had just witnessed (angel Gabriel speacking to him). He only felt feverish but after more was explained to him, he set aside what he thought was frightening and did his duty: to preach Islam to those who wanted to learn the faith.
Hope you see what is right cuz this is true!
Who told you he was suicidal.....?

He could not read nor write. Revelations. I don't believe one word of it - it was all plagiarized from other sources.

The whole idea is ridiculous just as is the christian and Jewish beliefs and, let us not leave out all the other ones that are still with us today. Absolute nonsense from cover to cover, word for word and idea to idea. The great religions and their grandiose ideas are all counterproductive to humanity. They all subject the devout to the lowest form of serfdom with their ambiguous and disparging dictum.

I read that his revelation trances were likely epileptic episodes that, in his culture, were viewed as demonic posessions. Explains a lot, doesn't it?

This was what he experienced occasionally for years after his (demonic) revelation in the cave at the beginning, as I understand it.

NO: you have been misinformed. after the revelations from Gabriel, he was a very scared and nervous and ran home to his wife Khadiga, and the surah, Mudathir explains the story, however he was not suicidal, i would read the translations of that surah.
