It would seem to me that most children of families that celebrate by gift giving at christmas don't need what they get in the first place it is a self gratifying act . Do you disagree or agree.

Christmas is about giving.
God, out of love gave us his son. Therefore we give to each other out of the love that was given to us.

Self gratifying... is to give to yourself, not to others.

When you give to someone else, its a random act of kindness. It's not to get an award, its to do good for someone who can't give or get their own.

If you have an issue with giving gifts, then donate to your local charity for children, adults or seniors and give the recipt to your family member and say "in your name I donated this $$ to this charity".

Merry Christmas.

Christmas might be about Jesus, but the Yule is about the kids. The two are on the same day because pope's of old tried to abscond the day.

The Magi never brought Birthday gifts for Christ. They came sometime after he was born. Those manger scenes are false. Jesus was a toddler, not an infant when they arrived.

Agree. Many of the customs of celebration are borne of paganistic celebrations. Getting gifts is a nice thing, but getting things we really need is no fun. That's a part of Chistmas that can't be taken away, even though I agree with you.

i agree that you need to celebrate Christmas in the way that is most meaningful to you and stop watching what total strangers do in the privacy of their own homes...

It's not about need. Gifts. Get it? If you have kids, they don't even have toys, do they? They get a bible and you get the rod. Right? I feel sorry for your kids. Lighten up.

I give my daughter some gifts because she is so loved. Otherwise we are scaling down our materialism, and lots of other Christians are, too.

'If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him' (Matthew 7:11).
