Should he divorce three of them or what to do? I am not playing around, I have a former Muslim who converted to Christianity and he have four wives (who also converted with him) and I do not know what to tell him.

You need to know that each wife have few children with him, and they live in an Islamic country. If he divorce any of them they will lose their provider as it is difficult for them to work and they have to go back and stay with their Muslim parents which is a huge problem.

It seems some who answer do not understand that in the Islamic country this man lives in, it is ok to marry four wives. So he does not need to do anything about them legally. Also he is an underground believer, nobody except very close relatives know that he and his wives converted. So it is not like he will go to court to change his name or something.

Majeed: I am a former Muslim and a believer in Jesus Christ for 17 years. I never been paid anything to convert and I am still a believer until today.

In fact I give my church every month over $500 as a Zakat of my income and to support mission work.

In fact I am an Arab and I was a fundamental Muslim who pray fajar (sun rise) prayer in the mosque everyday.

Leave your stereotypes behind you and face reality. I met and networked with thousands of Muslims who came to Christ in the last 17 years.

Christianity, unlike Islam, is not about following a bunch of rules. There's nothing in Christianity that says a person should either be married, not be married, or have one wife or many wives.

Now, the Bible may indicate that it's *foolish* to have more than one wife, but not that it's *wrong*.

So... no need for him to change anything just because he became a Christian.

I can tell you that in my father's evangelical denomination, which has been actively engaged in missionary work for most of the last century, the question has been explicitly spelled out. They're official doctrine required converts to divorce multiple wives before they could be granted membership in the church, though there was nothing that said they couldn't attend or even be converted non-members, if that makes sense. My father found that position to be very contradictory - there's nothing in the Bible that condemns polygamy except as a condition for church leaders, but the Biblical position about divorce is clear.

Peace to you.

You can have more than one Wife – you just wouldn’t be allowed to Missionary or hold a place of high responsibility according to the Bible. In fact it would be wrong to divorce them – unless they cheat on you.

This is a very good question, but I'm not sure of the answer. I would pray about it. Considering they are in an islamic country, I think he should keep his marriages and his families together. I'm sure God will understand considering the circumstances. I'd hate for those women and children to have to go back to Muslim families...that would cause even more problems. Keep the families together and keep their faith in Our Lord strong. Good luck.

God Bless.

They can stay married, (1Cr 7:24 Brethren, let every man, wherein he is called, therein abide with God.)

but he cannot serve in a leadership role in the congregation. ( 1Ti 3:2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; )
(1Ti 3:12 Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. )

The Bible does not prohibit polygamy but it does give example that it is wrong. Common sense tells most people it's wrong or at least a very bad idea. In today's world it's hard to justify. But because he's already done it I would imagine the Lord would want him to remain as he is.

I believe it's in the book of Romans where Paul talks about if you are slave when you get saved, continue being a slave, if you are married, stay married, if you are free, be free, and etc.

I agree with what others have said. He should repent in his heart of his sin, but NOT divorce his wives.

in our church we don't ruin marriages where the history of the country allowed for muliplie wives UNLESS it was divorce
and re-marriage that were talking about...

it doesn't exactly say if you do you will go to hell but it does
suggest that its better to have only 1....as thats what God really wanted for us.

now if the fellow PREACHES that its okay to have mult. wives
in the church you may have to set your foot down or have him removed.

We have freedom in Christ. There is nothing wrong with the man keeping all of his wives. If I am wrong about that, I wish someone would show me.
