If you can see them with the naked eye, they are tape worms. The vast majority of over-the-counter dewormers are not effective for this type of worm. They can be found via mail order or feed stores but if they say, "aids in", they are junk. Really, the best thing to do is to take a fresh stool sample to a vet and get a prescription for the cure but with a lot of research, one can get the same drugs the vet uses for these worms without a prescription.
Also note that dewormers work but that doesn't stop the dog from getting them again a short time later. I can't remember off hand how tape worms are spread but I believe it is an insect vector.
Also note that puppies should be routinely wormed (your vet will know the best schedule for your area) - some are passed from the mother's milk and most all puppies get them. Again, find out what your vet recommends - they are all available over the counter - the exact same stuff and they get them from the same sources as feed stores (but not likely pet stores or supermarkets) do and possibly from the same mail order source. I use Omaha Vaccine (omahavaccine.com) which is a common veterinary source myself but there are many out there.

You should take your puppy to the vet for some medication. But if you cant afford it, go to the local feed store and get a bottle of 8 and 1 or 7 and 1 or something like that. I dont remember what it is called but ask them for it. It is a rid-worm medicine. It is used with livestock too. Gets rid of up to 8 different parasites. Most puppies will get worms. But try one of these.

You need to have that puppy dewormed at the vet. Dont worry, its not expencive! Call first thing in the am to set apt, meanwhile, keep that puppy away from any other animals and children. The worms are contageous, but not too much a threat.

You can buy worming tablets from most pet stores and supermarkets, but as yours is still a puppy I would go to the vet and get the right type of tablet for your dogs weight etc.
Once your dog is regularly wormed, you won't have a problem with worms, but you need to continue doing it for it to stay that way.

Take him to the vet and take along a fresh poop sample. That way the vet can tell what kind of worms they are and give him the proper medication for them. Good luck to you!
