I'm currently a student at the Wharton School and upon graduation I will land either an investment banking or consulting job. My starting salary will be around $150,000 for investment banking a 1/3 less for consulting (including bonuses).

I would like to become a model/actor, however. I consider myself a very good-looking guy and fit the stats of the typical male model. There have been a few actors that have come out of the Wharton School, one of them being Rick Yune (played nemesis of Torreto in Fast & the Furious).

I know that my best bet is going into the financial sector but acting might pay off too someday (Matt Damon).I have an exotic look, so I could get ahead in the industry, and maybe my discipline, educational pedigree, polyglotness and intelligence would be beneficial too. I need a salary to live tho. I was thinking of some sort of consulting/modeling/acting career choice that gives me time for both.

What are my chances, given my choices and qualities to "make it"?

I'm an aspiring model myself, and it is always hard to balance out the money situation.

You have a better possibility and chances in making it at a younger age, so if modeling is truly your dream and passion that you can give 100% to, then go ahead and pursue it. Make sure to have an agency who has a good reputation.
It depends on a lot on an agency if you get many paying gigs or not, I wouldn't count solely on myself to get gigs.....

As far as making the money, having a full time job will conflicts with modeling, since many gigs are held on weekdays, and some requires to travel, so my best suggestion is to find a good paying part time job that gives you the flexibility of scheduling your work.
With the profession that you have, do you think they have part time jobs working in a small firm? If so that would be great, so that you can gain experience in the field while pursuing your modeling career.

Good luck to you!

You will probably never make the money modeling that you'll get with banking, but modeling might provide some opportunities that banking won't. If you think modeling might be something you want to try, keep this in mind...
Modeling has an expiration date, but banking does not. Model while you are young and then become a banker when you are no longer getting modeling jobs. Just make sure you keep your education updated so you'll always be qualified for banking jobs.

Young Man! You may not know it but I would say " The World is setting on a banana peel and you have it by the tail on a downhill pull". You have much confidence in your attributes, you certainly not shy, but quite vain. With so many points going for you ,pick the field you feel will give you the most enjoyment from life. When all is done, the manner in which you live your life and the effect you have on others will be your reward.

Is there any clause of employment that says you cannot indulge in both careers until you make up your mind? Unless you are doing something racy in the acting/modeling sect that could jeopardise a conservative image, then why not? As you would be justa beginner in the financial field, I do not see what harm there would be in it. Maybe by doing both you would be better able to make up your mind that way.

There are dime a dozen actor wannabees out there who are until now, as we speak are still waiting for their big break. Only very few make it big or become successful, though. However, I am not discouraging you to have this ambition, you have to prepare ahead just in case this dream will not be fulfilled.

My Advise, get a permanent job to support your ambition to be an actor.

Good luck to all of your undertaking
