i hear every say do the 3 step method during hurdles for track practice. what exactly is this, "3 step?"

3 steps between hurdles. Left - right - left - hurdle - land on the right and do it again.

Taking exactly 3 steps in between each hurdle. You will significantly reduce your time if you are able to do so. It involves being flexible, and having long legs helps as well.

Don't forget the watchword for hurdlers once you've mastered the 3 step method. YOU GOTTA get that lead leg back onto the track FAST.

it is the # of steps taken necessary to lead with the same lead leg over the next hurdle. anything less means alternating lead legs.
