Guru is a word for one who can take you from darkness ( ignorance ) and bring you to light ( truth )

Rati means very firm and some what overwhelming attachment to your Guru.

So if it is some sub religion... thats the meaning of it...

only trick in this world is discovering a Sat Guru...

A true Guru.

they are all true ... but only a very very small hand full if that many are leading to the ultimate benefit...

peace be with you.

may Krsna bless you with a Sat Guru.

Gora Hari Bol

Overview and origin -
---------------------------
Word Hindu originated when foreigners discovered Indian civilization, which was located in Indo-Gangetic plane i.e. East of Sindhu river. After that foreigners use to call Indian civilization as Sindhu. Later with the passage of time, the word sindhu got distorted to Hindu and religion followed by them as Hinduism.

Before that inhabitant of land of Sindhu use to follow religion called "Sanatana Dharma", which means "eternal generic value of life that sustains". Sanatana Dharma is an ancient religion and only non-prophetic religion in the World. It doesn't depends upon one person and a single doctrine. Sanatana Dharma is monotheistic and pantheistic religion, but misunderstood as polytheistic.

Crux of the problem (why do we need religion?) -
--------------------------------------...
Saints (all are unknown) in theri deep meditation had discovered the following -

All living beings, consciously or unconsciously, are trying to get rid of pain or suffering. Throughout the life, we keep running after pleasure, but unable to attain the true bliss. If we examine deeply, we will realize that all pleasures are pain underneath - which means that pain is attached to the all the phases of the pleasure i.e. attainment, safeguard, consumption, destruction and violence. That's why Indian philosophers have meditated on following four basic questions –

1. What should be eradicated?
2. What is the source of pain?
3. What is that state, where there is no pain?
4. How to achieve the above state, where there is no pain?

If we try to analyze these questions following four facts will be revealed –

1. Who is feeling pain? What is its true-nature (Dharma)? If suffering is our true-nature, then we would not like to avoid it. This means that there is an element (Tattava), whose true-nature is not pain, which is known as consciousness (Pursha).

2. Second element, opposite of consciousness, is inert and ever changing matter (Prakriti), whose true-nature is pain.
We don’t like the pain, but still we experience it. This means there is an amalgamation (union, emulsion, fusion or interplay) of consciousness and matter. In the process of amalgamation, Consciousness gets identified with matter, which is the source of the pain.

3. This establishes the presence of third element, which is responsible for above amalgamation between consciousness and matter. This is known as Pure Consciousness (known as Shudh Chetan Tattava, Pramatama, Pra-Bhram), which is omnipresent. Only omnipresent element can be omniscient, controller and owner of the amalgamation.

Now we have answers to all the four questions –

Q. What should be eradicated?
A. Pain, which is due in the future.

Q. What is the source of pain?
A. Consciousness and matter’s union, which is based upon wrong-knowledge (Avidya), where consciousness gets identified with matter.

Q. What is that state, where there is no pain?
A. Having no wrong-knowledge.

Q. How to achieve the above state?
A. Through right-knowledge (Vivek-Khyati) i.e. consciousness is separate from matter.

Four main goals of the life –
------------------------------------
1. Liberation (Moksha) is self-realization and re-unification.
2. Religion (Dharma) is the rightful duty.
3. Meaning (Artha) is the rightful way to attain material wealth.
4. Work (Karma) is the rightful way to desire.

4 path to attain above objectives -
--------------------------------------...
1. Action (karma) Yoga : Do duty (which is worth doing) for Cosmic Consciousness (sacrifice), without becoming a doer and enjoyer (non-action).

2. Wisdom (Jyana) Yoga : Dispel the darkness of ignorance by light of wisdom and realize Cosmic Consciousness.

3. Surrender (bhakti) Yoga : When total unconditional surrender (not devotion, but unity) happens and one looses his own existence to the Cosmic Consciousness. For example when a mother is cooking food, she always has her children in the background. This state is called Bhava, in which mother looses her existence in her child. Mother's love for her children is from her heart (which is illogical) and not from mind (which is logical). Mother will even risk her own life to save her child.

4. Fourth is Raj Yoga, which has culmination above three paths. This is also known as Ashtanga (eight limbs) Yoga.

Yoga means union between separated soul (known as Atama) and Universal Consciousness (God)

Vedas, the repository of genric knowledge -
--------------------------------------...
Veda : In ancient times, Truth was directly revealed to ancient Sages and Sears in their deep meditation. Veda are based upon eternal values, which are based upon Universal principles. Since then this wisdom of Truth was passed on verbally from Guru to Shishya (disciple). Later a paret of it was documented by Rishi Veda-Vayasa.

Focus -
--------
Lot of stress has been given on meditation (absorption). When mastered, absorption (Samashi) is natural state of mind with no mind, without any duality, where object of experience, experience and who is experiencing becomes one. This absorption is different from sleep, deep sleep, self-hypnotism, hypnotism, relaxation, concentration, meditation, hallucination and comma etc.

In advance stages, absorption happens 24 hours a day. What happens in absorption can not be explained, because it is an experience beyond five senses. It is like explaining a color to a person, who is blind from birth.

But we get a flash of absorption when we observe a child who is totally engrossed with his toys and looses the concept of time, space and unit. Absorption is sleepless sleep.
