Protestants and Catholics are both Christian denominations. The Protestants broke away from the Catholic Church during the Protestant Reformation because they believed that that Catholic Church had become corrupt, which it had. There was later a Counter Reformation under which the Catholic Church cleaned up its act, but there are differences which remain to this day. However, the main principles of the religions remain the same, and on the whole there is no hatred between the two. Because the religions are so alike, their practices and their churches are similar as well. It is just tradition carried down over the centuries.

It depends where you are. In the UK some Catholic churches have been around a lot longer than Protestant churches since the UK was originally a Catholic country before people broke away and new denominations were formed. Therefore many Catholic churches look more traditional and have more detail in the architecture, however obviously I can't speak for all churches. There are also very traditional and amazing looking Protestant churches. I guess it mainly depends on when it was built. The feeling of Gods presence is the most important (not saying you don't think that by the way)

Hate is a strong word....

How about disagree........

I'm sure you know the Protestant Church is out of the Catholic Church, praise to God for men like Martin Luther..., so why wouldn't Churches look alike?

The building does not make a Church, it is the chosen people, the Disciples that are the Body of Christ (The Universal Church)...

hate? no never hate, but love. Be careful of judging by appearances. The Pharisees and Sadducee's lived the Law outwardly, but were just as much the sinner as you or I on the inside.
