So that you are not led in the wrong direction. You can always get answers about court appearances from the court clerk. Since different laws apply in different areas you want to make sure that you abide by the directive of your court. You most likely will only have to pay a fine and not need to appear but you want to play it safe. call the court clerks office. Also you might be able to get out of it in court if the cop doesn't show.

I remember one time while in a theater I got a ticket for "Farting in Public." I thought that going was going to be the most embarrassing day of my life. However, the officer who wrote the ticket never showed up in court. Whew!!!!

You might have to go to court to pay a fine, if you already paid the fine or there is no fine, then you probably don't have to go to court.
