NOTHING could be further from the truth.

We are constantly praying to our Heavenly Father and close EACH prayer with "In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen." As far as addressing Him by His name, I've heard some members reference Him by calling Him Christ, or Jesus, sometimes The Son, and even occasionally Jehovah, but most often what I use and what I hear used is Jesus Christ.

I really don't know where you got this misinformation, but I'm glad that you came to us and asked us.

No, we don't pray TO Jesus. There's a scripture somewhere (can't find it) which says "Pray always unto the father in my name" and this is what we do. We pray to our Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ. We do use His name, although many people refer to him more often as "the Saviour" out of respect.

We pray to God in the name of Christ every time we pray. We also mention Christ by His name frequently. So I guess the answer to that is that it is not true, but I guess you might say that since we pray to God (who Christ said we should pray to and give praise to) that we don't actually pray to Christ, even though we pray in Christ's name and believe that it is through our faith in Him that our prayers will be answered. See Moroni 10:4 in the Book of Mormon for a good scripture on our belief in how prayers are answered.

Perhaps you have us confused with the wonderful Jewish people? As other answerers said, we pray to Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus. Something that happened in the Book of Mormon when Jesus Christ came to visit the inhabitants of the Americas was that the people prayed to Him directly, and Jesus Christ's words were recorded on that occasion as He prayed to His Father. The verse you can check out sometime is 3 Nephi 19:22:
"Father, thou hast given them the Holy Ghost because they believe in me; and thou seest that they believe in me because thou hearest them, and they pray unto me; and they pray unto me because I am with them."
This verse indicates that Jesus knew that the correct pattern of prayer is actually like the Lord's Prayer in the New Testament, where you start out with a phrase equivalent to "Our Father which art in heaven"-- but because Christ was physically in the presence of the people, they prayed to Him directly, as it was such a blessing and a privilege to have Him there.
Hope that helps. Have a gummy bear.

Because God said to "put no Gods before me". Jesus Christ is the Son, NOT the Father. We pray to the Father in the name of the Son. Jesus Christ is NOT God, therefore, we do NOT pray to him. We pray to GOD.

Uh...no. Not true.

We begin a prayer by saying "Our Father in Heaven" or "Heavenly Father" or "Dear Lord" or addressing God in some way. We thank him for our blessings, we ask for the blessings we need and we close in Jesus' name by saying "in Jesus' name, Amen" or "in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen".

We try to honour the name of Jesus Christ and not "overuse" it, and certainly not use it as an expression or cuss word (personally, I find this quite offensive)...and by this way, his name is still sacred and special.

Mormons do not pray to anyone but "God" our dear heavenly father directly, as per the bible. They believe Jesus is our elder brother who lovingly sacrificed himself for our salvation; and, that the holy spirit guides us all if we will only listen.

Well, not exactly, they (I used to be one) pray to God in Jesus's name. They do believe in Christ as the savior, but they believe God, his father, is the Almighty one. And yes, they do call Him by His name.

Christ taught us to pray, saying it should start out with "Our Father, who art in heaven..."

We end our prayers "In the name of Jesus Christ, amen".
