I'm 6 foot and weigh 155(Skinny). I am only 18 and working on an associates degree. I plan on working out a lot in the next few years. I'm just worried about my size, its not like I will be in a urban city, most likely 25-50k. Will my size affect me in becoming a cop?

I don't think your size will affect you becoming a cop. All you have to do is workout and build some muscle and you'll be fine. My older brother was similar to you, tall and skinny, but after he started working out he bulked up some muscle and later went on to become a U.S. Marine. Good luck with your career!

Brandon, you are big compared to some of the officers in my husband's department. Your size certainly won't be an issue, but your age will. Most departments can't hire you until you are at least 21. Contact the your local police departments to find out what their requirements are. In the mean time, talk to as many officers as you can, go on ride alongs whenever you can, and, most important of all, FINISH YOUR DEGREE !! (Hopefully, you are studying criminal justice)
Good Luck

Not at all... you're light on your feet, and probably quick because of your build. You'd be an asset.
As a retired cop, I'd suggest talking with a NUMBER of cops from a NUMBER of departments... go for as many ride-alongs as you can, and think HARD about it.
The first time i pulled my gun changed my life forever. You can't take back bullets.

I don't think it should. It sounds like you haven't filled out yet, which sometimes doesnt happen until you are 25. If you put on some muscle, I think you would be in really good shape. Plus, if they hire you, they know they are going to send you through camp. That will help to bulk you up as well as training you

No, but your age probably will. I think you have to be at least 25 years old. If you're serious about it, go into the military and/or get a criminal justice degree first. Everyone that applies has one or the other.

Your biggest problem will be fitting all the gear on your duty belt(lol). Your age will be the bigger problem. Join the military (Navy Master- at- arms, Army MP etc) You will get experience, training and vet points towards civil service exams. Besides, after about 4 years, you'll put on some bulk.

Size doesn't matter...trust me. You outweigh our PCT instructor and NOBODY in there right mind tangles with him even for fun. But he's handy to have around when s&!t goes south. I grew up thinking I was bad {football-wrestling-fighting-bouncing in bars etc.} untill I made the biggest decission of my life, to become a law enforcement officer. No regrets but think long and hard about it. And remember that it's not the gun that makes you tough, it's the badge cause your fighting for those that can't fight for themselves.

Your frame is on the light side. As you age you will add weight to your frame. I would concentrate more on building muscle than weight. And endurance too. Being light is a good thing as it will help you with speed too. After you build more muscle, you can add weight if you still think you look too skinny.
