Nothing changed my mind...

I tried my hardest to believe... and I never could buy it.

I have a MA in Religious Studies. Having taken apologetic courses and learning world religions along with the courses taken in early civilizations made the case for religion, gods and goddesses fun to read, but hardly worth the time Subjugating my mind to such disingenuous insidious debauchery is laughable at best.

Factually, I really never did believe in any of the dogmas and myths. I thought I might change my mind when I started classes and after encountering apologetics - well, that is the most spurious dictum on the face of the earth.

I had a greater sense of right and wrong than all the people I came into contact with in church. This was when I was 10 years old,it was the church my parents went to. I haven't had much use for christianity or any other faith since. That was fifty years ago.

I personally do not have a religious background. I am born of a father with a 150 IQ and current occupation being a computer engineer. I think education is self perpetuating.

Can a heathen get in on the question?

I tried Christianity (several brands of it), it just never took. I just couldn't get around a loving God who demanded tens of thousands to die just because they weren't "His chosen" people. That was the first stumbling block, they piled up quickly after that.

I was raised Southern Baptist, then general Protestant. Studied Catholicism. Then made A.A. a religion of sorts. Found heathenism after that and came home.

16 years of religious education :)

I had faith some time ago, but really just fooled myself into thinking I did. I never had it, just too many questions for the priests or any other adults to answer.

I found my own answers in observable evidence, despite the constant religious attention.

I grew up...at some point I stopped believing in Santa Claus, the tooth fairy, the Easter bunny, the monster under the bed, and the imaginary guy in the sky.

I was a Presbyterian....until I turned 7...then I realized that religion has way too many contradictions, vague statements, and thinly disguised "logic" arguments......
