Well sad to say but the two greatest countries on earth, countries that open their borders to anyone and everyone, Canada & the USA have sold out thanks to their spineless politicians & money hungry integrity lacking lawyers who have practically made it against the law. Separation of Church and State - bullcrap. The heathens, pagans, and atheists that they allow into North America have more rights than the founders and birth citizens. Pretty sad. What happened to IN GOD WE TRUST. No wonder the strongest and benchmark currency of the world, the US dollar, is loosing its lustre and being replaced by the Euro while also decreasing in value. I guess God isn't happy either. Try going to some other country and telling them to change their culture to suit our desires and they would kill you or imprision you. Here we have to bend over backwards for them. They should be grateful to be here and if they don't like hearing the LORD'S PRAYER then move back to where they came from. North America has always been Christian and ruled by believers or followers of Christ until the revolving door of immigration changed it. Oh we still have Freedom of Speech last time I checked.
God Bless America & God Save the Queen.

You can
Nothing is in place to stop you from praying in school, yes even American public schools. You are welcome to pray whenever you want.

It is when prayer is made mandatory or one religious view is allowed to take precedent over others that the problems start.

For example, what if a Christian wanted to say a prayer to the student body over the loud speaker should he/ she be allowed to do so?

If you say yes, then what would you say when a confirmed Satanist wants to pray to his/ her Deity over the loud speaker to the entire student body the next day?
Would you demand and enforce the same level of respect that the Christian got? You might, but many people would not, and this is where the problems start.
What if an agnostic or atheist wanted to speak before the student body about their views on religion and deities? Do you honestly believe they would be given a forum for their beliefs? If access is allowed for one it must be allowed for all. See the problem?

You can.

But the school cannot sponsor it's recitation, and I think THAT is what you are asking.

Well, if they did, wouldn't it be no more than fair of them to say a prayer from EVERY student's religion?

You know what, why don't we leave school the way it is, and all you students can say whatever prayer you like to yourself.

That seems like a much better idea...

Because certain people in the past 50 years have been working hard to separate this country from its Judeo-Christian roots. They call it separation of church and state.

Lately there's been another issue. We don't want to upset the Muslims. That's a really big no-no.

But the bottom line is that God will not be mocked. So honor God in all that you do including praying to Him while in school.

Who says you can't?

Why do people ask these questions? You never have been disallowed to pray in schools. You simply cannot interrupt instruction, nor have a staff member lead the prayer.

Sigh.

Then everyone would have to be allowed to practice their religous beliefs in school. Are you willing to let that happen? I doubt it. Prayer has no place in public schools. If you want to pray their are Christian based schools that you can attend.

because, as a child, your mind is a blank peace of paper. when religion and other deep things come in its a giant black spot right in the middle of it. so our society, even as christian as they are, attempt to separate the chruch and state. i personaly see christianity to be a cult like religion but thats coming from someone who acctualy questioned it. and i got an answer "because the bible says so" so since there is no real explination for it i dont follow it blindly like so many americans do today...

You can. Just as long as you don't get students involved. There is the exception of Bible Clubs in some schools.

You can but you can't ask others to join you because you would then impose your religion onto others which goes against Separation of Church and State.

You can! How would anyone know?? Do they have thought police at your school??
You can pray, the school just can't make anyone pray if they don't want to.
